Warwick Farm Trials Review By Ray Hickson It’s hard to see Godolphin colts Revenire and Marble being beaten when they return to the track shortly based on outstanding trials at Warwick Farm on Monday. In fact Godolphin appears set for a purple patch if their triallers stand up on race day. You can mark down the likes of Tiki Bar, Medovina and Raiment, who had a very quiet trial, as potential coming winners. Revenire has won two of his three starts and was the standout. He turned about fourth in the 804m trial, gathered in the leaders under double raps and raced away doing it very easily. Marble hasn’t been beaten in a trial or a race and prior to Revenire stepping out after him would have been the clear top pick from the 16 heats. This colt took a bit of time to work to the lead then strode away from the 200m and stretched out very nicely late.

Tiki Bar split Lipizzan and Envy Of All at her only start and there was plenty to like about the way she finished off her heat into third place. Neither she or unraced stablemate Medovina were asked for anything at all as they slid home in fine style. Group 3 winning mare Raiment was hidden away at the back of her trial and didn’t really contest it in a second hitout this preparation. Don’t underestimate her though, she won first-up last prep then finished a luckless second to In Her Time. It’ll be a surprise if the Team Snowden filly Pure Elation doesn’t debut a winner. This two-year-old might be a handy one so along as she settles on race day. She didn’t settle three wide outside the lead but took over on the turn and put a couple of lengths on the field. Chasing her was Gimcrack Stakes placegetter Fiesta who also wasn’t asked for anything. It’d be interesting if the pair clashed under race conditions. Edward O’Rourke’s Catanzaro has a bit to learn race sense wise but shows raw ability. He blew the start, railed through to be in front early in the straight but ran about before being run down by a much more professional Skyray. Pretty Fast is well named, she ran them along in her heat and that her rivals off the bit a long way out. If she comes back a notch or two in class on her last couple she can win a race soon. Identic is a lightly raced mare from the Garry Frazer yard and she was very slick in winning her heat, leading all the way without being asked for a big effort. Not sure how to rate Calanda’s trial, he ran fourth in what was his second trial this time in, though it was a fast run heat and he wasn’t overly tested. Tactical Advantage, now with Joe Pride, finished alongside Calanda also under no real duress. And Charlie Who, off a 16 month break, looked very good running third in his first trial.
