Gary Harley's Last Word - Wyong (Thursday)

By Gary Harley

Sydney premier trainer Chris Waller will send four gallopers to Thursday's Wyong race meeting and all four have strong claims. Waller's quartet includes Yah Bravo (race 3), Noire (race 4), Cocoexcel (race 6) and Pianissimo (race 8). Yeah Bravo will carry topweight in the Vietnam Veterans Keith Payne Maiden (1200m) and he has the best form. The three-year-old has only raced three times and in the spring he was placed at Warwick Farm and Gosford. Yeah Bravo has had two recent trials, has a soft draw and Josh Parr rides. Noire steps out in the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Air Conditioners Maiden (1200m) and she can overcome a wide draw. In her only start on March 11 she was narrowly beaten on the Beaumont Newcastle Track on soft going. The wide barrier here is the only negative but Noire has the services of Tommy Berry. Cocoexcel has her third run from a spell in the Haier Air Conditioning Class 1 (1000m). The filly has been very disappointing in both starts this preparation but if she finds her best form which includes a Warwick Farm win in June she will be hard to beat. Pianissimo hasn’t raced since November but he has had two recent trials. The four-year-old will contest the Northlakes Toukley Rotary Club Benchmark 70 (1350m). He raced well on the metropolitan tracks last prep and he is a player in this race.

RACE 1 (JOB CENTRE AUSTRALIA CL 1 & MAIDEN, 2100m): Power From Within was narrowly beaten over the 2300 metre trip at Newcastle last start. The track was rain-affected that day and with only 54½ kilograms on her back she will be hard to beat. Noble Truth failed in the Group 2 at Rosehill last start but he was placed in his previous three provincial starts. The Victorian Shaq has had a change of stable since two placings on country tracks down south. SELECTIONS: 6 POWER FROM WITHIN, 4 NOBLE TRUTH, 1 SHAQ

RACE 2 (LAKES PODIATRY MAIDEN, 1000m): Paris For Me has been placed in three of her five starts and she has been placed on a heavy track. The filly was only beaten two lengths in the Magic Millions Maiden on the Gold Coast last start on January 14. She has since won a Wyong trial easily. Bint Snitzel wasn’t far off Clearly Innocent in a recent Wyong trial on a heavy track. Yeas and Nays is on debut after a Rosehill trial win on a soft track. SELECTIONS: 5 PARIS FOR ME, 4 BINT SNITZEL, 7 YEAS AND NAYS

RACE 3 (VIETNAM VETERANS KEITH PAYNE VC HOSTEL MAIDEN, 1200m): Yeah Bravo resumes after two trials and he has good credentials. He has only had three starts and he was placed at Warwick Farm and Gosford in the spring. Ivoryman has had two recent trials and he came from last to be beaten a length and a half at Warwick Farm in December. Military Machine has been trialing okay and he was narrowly beaten on a heavy track at Canterbury in August. SELECTIONS: 1 YEAH BRAVO, 4 IVORYMAN, 2 MILITARY MACHINE

RACE 4 (MITSUBISHI HEAVY INDUSTRIES AIR CONDITIONERS MAIDEN, 1200m): Noire was nailed on the line on debut at the Beaumont track on March 11. She has a tricky draw but is classy and she had good trial form before her debut. The Bar resumes on the back of a Warwick Farm trial win and she finished second on the Beaumont track before a spell. Overreactive resumes after two trials and she has a chance. SELECTIONS: 1 NOIRE, 2 THE BAR, 6 OVERREACTIVE

RACE 5 (LAKE MACQUARIE SHEET METAL Cl 1, 1000m): Postmaster General is ultra consistent and he races well on this track where he won his Maiden in October. He has genuine speed, has a soft draw and he bolted in with a recent Warwick Farm trial. Dissolute had no luck last start and can improve here. Trust Me is a speedy three year old which bolted in last start at Muswellbrook. SELECTIONS: 4 POSTMASTER GENERAL, 2 DISSOLUTE, 7 TRUST ME

RACE 6 (HAIER AIR CONDITIONING Cl 1, 1000m): Blowing Kisses is well placed here with the rails barrier and a 2 kilogram claim. She was a Canterbury winner in May and was narrowly beaten on this track in September. The filly won a recent Randwick trial on a heavy track. Once More A Lady has trialled nicely for the first up run and she had good form last prep. Identic was an easy Hawkesbury winner in his only start on March 13. SELECTIONS: 2 BLOWING KISSES, 3 ONCE MORE A LADY, 5 IDENTIC

RACE 7 (TWIN LAKES AIR CONDITIONING BM65, 1600m): Whirlwind Ascent’s recent Scone form is impressive and from the rails draw he can win this race. Shoepeg has been disappointing but she races well on wet tracks and she can improve here. Zadok the Priest is finding his best form and has a chance. SELECTIONS 5 WHIRLWIND ASCENT 4 SHOEPEG 6 ZADOK THE PRIEST

RACE 8 (NORTHLAKES TOUKLEY ROTARY CLUB INC BM70, 1350m): Montignac has had a freshen up after a couple of Canterbury runs where she hasn’t been far away. The mare has been placed a couple of times on heavy tracks. Kravchenko hasn’t been out of a place this prep and he will be strong late. On the Spot was close up in a Group 3 in February. SELECTIONS: 9 MONTIGNAC, 4 KRAVCHENKO, 5 ON THE SPOT
