ROSEHILL GARDENS – BEST BET: Race 2 # 7 – MARE OF MT BULLER
The writing has been on the wall this preparation that this Chris Waller-trained four-year-old mare is very close to a win with placings in two Randwick miles that were relatively casually run. Not ideal when you’re a backmarker, so her effort to run Little Baia to half a length two weeks ago was full of merit. She’s been placed up to 2000m so the trip is no issue and the way she’s been running on suggests she’ll looking for it. Importantly, there’s potential for this race to be run at a more generous tempo and if that happens she’ll get her chance to notch a Group win.

ROSEHILL GARDENS – VALUE BET: Race 9 # 11 – BRIASA
What price this promising grey if he drew four and not 14? He’d be pressing for favouritism without a doubt. He’s won six from seven including The Hunter before a spell and his only defeat came when posted wide throughout in a race won by Ostraka at Randwick. And he was only half a length off them. Sure he’s drawn out here but it’s not as bad as it looks, he just needs to neutral early and find a back to follow into the race. Doubt he’s going to find a spot one off without going back, if he does then Schiller’s a genius. Strolled past Eagle Nest, a stakeswinner last week, in his lead up trial and he will be hard to beat.
ROSEHILL GARDENS – SECTIONAL STAR: Race 7 # 1 – CEOLWULF
It might not have looked it to the eye but Ceolwulf came within a tick or two of posting the fastest last 600m as he ran fifth in the Canterbury Stakes two weeks back. The four-year-old ran a last 600m of 33.21, just 0.05 slower than Sunshine In Paris’s race best (Punter’s Intelligence). Goes to 1500m now which is a lot more suitable than having to drop in trip second-up off a small setback. Drawn to have a distinct advantage on one of his major rivals and the sectionals from both his runs this prep have shown he’s in good touch. Now’s his chance to show it
KEMBLA GRANGE – PROVINCIAL PICK: Race 6 # 7 – BROADWAY FOLLIES
Back for a second preparation after she won two from three back in the early part of the spring. Both wins were in the country then game in defeat when second at Hawkesbury back in October. Showed nice improvement into her second trial where she held 1-1/4 lengths on Lady Laguna at the end of 1030m. Barrier one and the claim should see her race prominently from the outset and if she runs up to her latest trial she will be hard to beat fresh.
