WYONG – BEST BET: Race 6 # 2 – INVADER ZIM
He was solid first-up behind subsequent winner Disneck a fortnight ago, and he profiles to improve sharply here. The gelding has won second-up in his past two preparations, and his effort/rating last campaign is dominant relative to his rivals. He brings a positive setup mapping to have all favours, the claim suits, and his peak figures have come on rain-affected ground. Happy to mark him favourite.
WYONG – BEST BET: Race 7 # 4 – ZAPHOD
He has gone to a new level in his second Australian preparation and acclimatised to the conditions. He was brave first-up after being caught three-wide out on a limb, and he bounced out of that to score last start at Eagle Farm, producing a career peak figure. His ratings profile suggests he can only improve third-up; the rise in trip looks ideal, and he should have every possible chance from the draw.
WYONG – SECTIONAL STAR: Race 9 # 11 – UNSTOPABULL
He was well-ridden, saving all the ground last start at Randwick, but still had to make his run through the inferior ground to win. The gelding showed a sharp turn of foot, and the clock backed up his visual late strength; with Punter's Intelligence recording, he clocked the meeting's fastest final, 200m, in 11.54. He is a winner at the track/distance, handles all conditions/race shapes, and has the key asset of acceleration.
KEMBLA GRANGE – PROVINCIAL PICK: Race 3 # 5 – UNLEESHING
Forgive her last start where she wasn't suited back in distance and around a tight-turning track in a slowly run race. Prior to that, both of her runs had merit, including a second to the impressive subsequent winner, Private Harry. The filly will appreciate returning to a bigger track out to 1300m, and all her peak figures have come wet ground. She maps well and gets in with no weight after the claim.
