ROSEHILL GARDENS – BEST BET: Race 4 # 2 – Elliptical
Profiles well for this event, and key indicators suggest he is ready to peak third-up over 2000m. The Anthony & Sam Freedman galloper deserved all honours first-up when winning the Group 3 CS Hayes Stakes (1400m). He was three wide out on a limb, working in a fast tempo & kept finding over the concluding stages to clock slick closing splits. Second-up, he started a rock-solid $5.50 second favourite in the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m). However, he raced slightly flat, but the gear changes engaged for this assignment can improve him significantly off that performance. The colt maps to have all favours doing no work in the run, proven at the distance and brings strong form lines. In addition, he has the key attributes of settling, conserving energy and sprinting. Expect a bold showing.
ROSEHILL GARDENS – NEXT BEST: Race 10 # 1 – Palaisipan
Looks to have come back well after impressively winning a recent trial at Rosehill. She wasn't extended and went through the line full of energy running the fastest time of the morning over that distance. First-up last prep, she was honest, running third in the Group 2 Sheraco Stakes (1200m), which featured TAB Everest (1200m) runner Shades Of Rose and subsequent Group 1 winner Espiona. The five-year-old is well placed in Fillies/Mares grade and maps to have all favours with Hugh Bowman riding. She races well at this track and has multiple winning figures.
ROSEHILL GARDENS – SECTIONAL STAR: RACE 7 # 2 – Artorius
Savaged the line to score in the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) last start and produced a career peak figure. He was ridden with real intent early and made to keep his mind on the job throughout. Further, he built momentum coming into the home straight, and once a gap appeared, he unleashed one of the fastest final 200m splits of the meeting in 11.23. The four-year-old can step off that performance up in distance and be saved for the last shot.
ROSEHILL GARDENS – HORSE TO WATCH: Race 9 # 2 – Uncommon James
Has a fantastic record/SP profile, and he did it on both ends last start winning the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m). The gelding always faced the breeze throughout transit, and when asked for an effort, he showed the key asset of acceleration. Moreover, he held off the late challengers and maintained a solid finishing speed to the line. The gelding receives a significant barrier change allowing him to stalk the pace, and he brings the best last-start figure. He holds a nomination for the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) and is a possible candidate for a TAB Everest (1200m) in the spring if he can measure up here.
ROSEHILL GARDENS – GOLDEN SLIPPER: Race 8 # 8 – King's Gambit
Leaning towards King's Gambit at the price where I can mark him and Cylinder much closer together. Cylinder deserves favouritism with multiple factors in his favour. Don Corleone profiles well, and Exploring/Steel City are knockout chances.

KEMBLA GRANGE - PROVINCIAL PICK: Race 3 # 9 – Fall For Cindy
Was well-fancied first-up at Newcastle when $3.5-$3.2 late in the trade. However, after being restrained early from a tricky draw, the filly had too much to do and got too far back in the run. To her credit, she made significant ground, and showed late strength, clocking one of the fastest final 200m splits of the meeting. The John O'Shea galloper has a much more positive race setup, and expect her to settle closer in the run. Additionally, her ratings/sectional profile suggests she will improve and be hard to beat.
