Connections of in-form sprinter Disneck probably wish every race was run over 1200m at Randwick at the moment so it’ll be interesting to see if he can transfer his winning ways to Rosehill on Saturday.

Jockey Josh Parr says the Bjorn Baker-trained gelding is racing with supreme confidence at the moment and he’s giving the sense that there’s nothing he can’t handle.

So after at hat-trick at headquarters, and some stunning sectionals, Disneck chases four straight in the Captivant @ Kia Ora Handicap (1300m).

“With confidence like he has at the moment and the form he’s in I think trying different things is easier,’’ Parr said.

“When you’re changing things in a horse’s preparation just to make things work that’s when it’s a lot more difficult.

“Last preparation he was a bit timid. You had to really cuddle him up but now he’s able to take gaps between horses this prep, and feels a lot more bold than he did last time, and that’s showing in his form.

“It’s a combination of Bjorn understanding what sort of horse he has, and the horse has got confidence and possibly as a direct result of how Bjorn is training him.

“He’s been given every chance to get to this point.”

Disneck, $4 with TAB on Wednesday, started his winning run with a narrow swooping victory at Randwick on December 14 as a $12 chance.

Two weeks later he again came from last, this time at $5, and swept past Invader Zim under 59kg then jumped in grade and repeated the dose accounting for Pioneer River as a short-priced favourite.

As confident as Parr is that Disneck can take his Randwick form to Rosehill, where it's easy to forget he has won two from five, he recognises that’s not the only challenge he faces.

“The set up of Rosehill is a lot different to Randwick and even though he has won at Rosehill it is a harder task to have a racing style like his at Rosehill compared to Randwick,’’ he said.

“He’s going up 100m and a lot in weight. There’s a few things that suggest it’s going to be a bit more difficult for him.”

A feature of Disneck’s wins have been the turn of foot he’s shown to make those last-to-first bursts.

In his December 28 victory, the four-year-old overcame a slowly run race and scooted home in 33.79 for his last 600m (Punter’s Intelligence) and in that race no other horse broke 12 seconds for the final 200m.

Conditions were a little different a week later, with a headwind slowing the times, but he again rounded them up running a last 600m of 34.48 which was four lengths faster than the next best in his race.

Parr said Disneck showed some barrier speed in his first two run back and it’s obvious the decision to revert to chasing them down has been a masterstroke.

“He found this barrier speed we didn’t know he had and it had us up on speed and wide two times and he showed zero turn of foot and they swamped him,’’ he said.

“You saw third-up when I was able to really get a hold of him, and bring him back, and make him travel his turn of foot’s really good.

“He is one dimensional you’d say but I don’t think it really matters does it.”
