Wyong trainer Damien Lane is riding racing’s high and lows into Tuesday’s Armidale TAB meeting, where he is upbeat with restricted class gallopers Black Comedy and I’ve Got It.
The dedicated young mentor continues to churn out the vast country kilometres from a disappointing Dubbo Cup meeting Sunday with numerous runners, after reliable money spinner Another Larga upset the favourites at long odds at Canterbury Park last Wednesday.
“That’s the way it goes, but you’d like a stable full of those 'Larga' horses, so honest and tough, but we’re positive enough for Armidale,” offered Lane returning after the booming Dubbo meeting where his best result was a close second with Mosaytion.
At Armidale, Lane has Black Comedy to be ridden by Serg Lisnyy in an 1100m, Iron Jack Crisp Lager Class I race.
“I did expect more first-up, but she’s only a lightly raced mare and she did show genuine ability winning her maiden at Wellington first prep and her Scone run was also encouraging,” Lane offered. "So second-up, there’s definitely scope for improvement and she’s in a suitable race.”
Stablemate I’ve Got It, a winner of two races, contests an Iron Jack Crisp BM 55 1100m event also to be ridden by Lisnyy: “After those initial wins he’s been disappointing but he did win really well at Tuncurry in March, so hopefully he can find some of that form, fitter after a two runs this prep and in his right race.”
A seven-race Country TAB meeting offers capacity fields in most races with the multiple Group-winning stable of Paul Perry set for a another highly successful day with numerous favourites.
In the fourth race, consistent Ledecky offers visiting Irish apprentice Robbie Dolan a strong winning opportunity. Armidale will race on a good three track rating.
