Talented galloper Dal Cielo took the first step to finally realising his potential with a dominant display in the Summer Sprint (1000m) at Warwick Farm.
The now four-year-old a was Group One winner in New Zealand at two before then trainer Murray Baker tested the waters in Australia tackling top tier races like the Coolmore Stud Stakes, Caulfield Guineas and Randwick Guineas. He started a new chapter with Kris Lees this campaign as a gelding.
Fancies Mr Manhattan and Oxford Poet were no match for Dal Cielo
“He went terrific today. I was very happy to see him begin like he did. He has been missing the kick a little,” said Lees stable representative Cameren Swan.
“We’ve only had him for two starts but he can get himself really wound up in the enclosure. Today he was really good all day.
“He won a Group One as a two-year-old so hopefully he’s up to those good sprinters but time will tell. I thought he’d get over 1400m but after what he did today, Kris has got some options with him.”
