Top Of My List impressed in the Group 3 JRA Plate (2000m) at Royal Randwick last month and will be out to repeat the performance in the Listed Lord Mayors Cup at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday.
With Tim Clark aboard, the four-year-old mare went straight to the front and never looked back, skipping away to win by a length from a fast-finishing Sons Of John.
“It was a really good run,” co-trainer Anthony Cummings said. “She had shown herself to be at group standard previously but the JRA Plate afforded her the chance to prove her ability in a group race.”
Top Of My List pulled up well from the race on 15th April and heads into Saturday’s 2000m feature in good shape.
She'll meet seven of the horses she raced against last time again this Saturday, including Sons Of John.
The track at Rosehill is currently rated a Good 4 but it’s unlikely to affect Top Of My List as she has won both in the dry and wet.
“She is a versatile horse,” Mr Cummings said. “She can race at the back or up the front but we’ll have to wait and see where the speed is before we commit to a plan.”
Top of My List boasts an impressive record of three wins and three placings from just eight starts with earnings a touch under $200,000.
The High Chaparral X Beauty Watch mare is leased from Gooree Stud by a passionate group of long term racing fans.
“They’ve had a few good horses before and they’re enjoying the ride with this one,” Mr Cummings said.
If Top Of My List continues to perform as she has been, she will be aimed at the Brisbane Cup in June.
She is also nominated for an interstate race this Saturday but Mr Cummings in confident she will run in Sydney.
