Excitement builds at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday, 26 August with ASX Thomson Reuters Charity Race Day marking only two weeks to the opening day of the Sydney Spring Carnival.
ASX Thomson Reuters is again partnering with the Australian Turf Club to host their annual charity event which aims to raise $250,000 on course to be evenly distributed across 37 children’s disability and medical research organisations. Each year they distribute over $1 million to children’s, disability and medical research charities. To date, the combined funds distributed to a wide range of charities totals just over $28 million.
On the track, the Group 3 $150,000 TPG Telecom San Domenico Stakes is one of the launching pads for three-year-old’s into their spring campaigns, and it has been a race that has proved to be an ideal starting point for the previous season’s Longines Golden Slipper runners.
Of the last seven renditions, five Golden Slipper runners, Star Turn (2016), Va Pensiero (2013), Snitzerland (2012), Foxwedge (2011) and Obsequious (2010), have taken out the 1100m feature.
Pariah for Snowden Racing will be looking to continue this trend, and has opened as the $2.90 TAB Fixed Odds favourite. This is the first time the Redoute’s Choice colt has raced since contesting the world’s richest two-year-old race in March. The three-year-old has had two barrier trials leading into this run including a second place to Winx at his most recent trial.
Lightly raced Condor Heroes ($6.00 TAB Fixed Odds) creates some interest, with the Gerald Ryan- trained colt having had three career starts for one win and two second placings.
Addictive Nature for Bjorn Baker will step up in distance to 1400m for the first time in his short two race career in the Group 3 $150,000 Monaco Cup – Ming Dynasty Quality. The son of Savabeel has had one barrier trial on 16 August in preparation and is the $3.90 TAB Fixed Odds favourite.
Last start winner Animalia has been shown support by punters, opening at $4.80 TAB Fixed Odds. Trained by James Cummings, the three-year-old impressed with a 7.5 length win at Gosford on 20 July.
