It will surprise nobody but trainer Marc Conners confirmed he’ll be asking jockey Tim Clark to make use of Super Too’s best asset – her speed – to try to dent some reputations in an intriguing renewal of the Group 3 $150,000 Concorde Stakes (1000m) at Randwick on Saturday.
Everyone’s speed map has Super Too leading and Conners said playing to her strength is her best hope.
“It’s a lot harder race but that’s the biggest chance for us to step the six or seven grades against the better horses,’’ he said.
“Hopefully she can do it. She’s at the stage where we have to have a throw at the stumps in a race like this, see if we can run a place or beat them.’’
Super Too clocked what appeared a track record for the Randwick 1000m on August 19 when she ran 55.72 seconds but it isn’t recognised because the official timing failed and the race was hand timed.

The four-year-old ran 0.2 seconds quicker than the official record held by De Lightning Ridge.
“The owners were really excited, it’s a feather in your cap for a horse to own the 1000m record at Randwick but unfortunately it didn’t come off,’’ Conners said.
“We know she went fast and that’s the main thing.’’
Conners has a healthy respect for the five horses that will be trying to run Super Too down but revealed the Concorde is the race he’s always targeted this preparation.
She has won four of her five starts at 1000m with the only failure being first-up where Conners suspects she choked down.
“She hasn’t done a lot wrong and for a couple of her blips in form there have been excuses,’’ he said. “She gets out there and makes her own luck.
“No doubt they are going to be stalking her, hopefully she is strong enough.
“Last preparation Spieth ran second in the Lightning so you have to respect him and Redzel is a Group 1 winner and has good form around 1000m so by no means it’s an easy race.’’
Conners said depending on what 1000m races are around in the coming weeks he may step Super Too up slightly in distance if she performs well at Randwick.
