The Everest hopeful Caravaggio ran fourth overnight in the Group One July Cup at Newmarket unable to reel in the Godolphin-trained Harry Angel.
It was the first time the Coolmore-owned colt has been beaten in seven starts with a poor start proving costly allowing Harry Angel to turn the tables from Royal Ascot.
The stunning grey, trained by Aidan O’Brien, was niggled throughout over the undulating course by Ryan Moore before finishing off his race down the stand side, doing his best work across the line.

Limato’s connections have also flagged interest in The Everest, Royal Randwick's $10 million sprint in October, and will be buoyed by the English sprinter’s second, having won the July Cup last year.
