NSW country, as well as interstate-trained horses, will again have added incentive to start at Sydney Friday night and Saturday metropolitan meetings under the return of the Australian Turf Club’s travel rebate initiative.
ATC will offer a $500 travel rebate for NSW country as well as interstate trainers who have at least one runner at a Sydney Saturday metropolitan meeting and at least one runner at the preceding KIA Friday Night Racing season meeting at Canterbury Park.
The rebate is not cumulative and will be $500 in total, provided the horses are declared starters by Racing NSW Stewards. Horses must be in the care of a trainer for a minimum of three months to be eligible for the rebate.
Australian Turf Club Executive General Manager of Racing, James Heddo, said the rebate had proven popular over the past two KIA Friday Night Racing seasons.
“KIA Friday Night Racing has been one of the big success stories for ATC and Sydney racing over the past few years,” Mr Heddo said. “This travel rebate provides another reason for owners and country and interstate trainers to race in Sydney for outstanding prizemoney down to 10th place.”
The 2018/19 KIA Friday Night Racing seasons begins this Friday, October 26 at Canterbury Park with 10 meetings scheduled until the end of February.
