Two of Sydney’s biggest Autumn races have been ranked in the world’s top ten Group One races at the Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings overnight.
The China Horse Club George Ryder Stakes (fifth) and Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes (sixth) were among five Australian Turf Club Group One races to be rated in the world’s top 50 races for 2017.
The China Horse Club George Ryder Stakes won last year by Winx was also rated the world’s best race in the mile category.
The Colgate Optic White Stakes (14th overall) was also included in the top 20 races, recognising the depth in this distance range.
Australian Turf Club General Manager of Racing, Wagering and International James Ross said the rankings had further highlighted the strength of Sydney racing and its participants.
“We are very pleased with the quality and number of ATC races in this year’s rankings which have highlighted the strength of the form around Winx in several races,’’ Mr Ross said.
“The ATC also extends its congratulations to Winx, the Chris Waller stable and all of the horse’s owners on Winx being rated the best horse on turf in the world.’’
