Australian Turf Club in conjunction with the NSW Racehorse Owners’ Association will announce a number of special awards to recognise the contribution of owners and their horses in the racing season just finished.
Owners Celebration Day and the fifth annual awards from the Australian Turf Club are part of the San Domenico Stakes meeting to be run at Kembla Grange on Saturday. NSWROA will also announce a series of awards on the day for the NSW Horse of the Year in each respective distance category.
The Australian Turf Club categories recognising owners, starters and achievements on Sydney and other racecourses at ATC meetings are:
Godolphin with 54 wins including three Group 1s receives Most Winning Owner Award and Peltzer, who after an unbeaten two-year-old career went on to win the $1 million Bondi Stakes and multiple Group successes, received the Special Achievement Award.
Races at Kembla Grange have been named in honour, with the winners of all other categories to be announced on Saturday.
Australian Turf Club Executive General Manager Racing & Wagering, James Ross said owners were a growing and integral part of Sydney racing and the ATC: “These awards are in their fifth year and have been a part of a series of ATC annual Industry Recognition days held over previous racing seasons,’’ Mr Ross said.
“Owners are critical to our industry and their experience is a key focus at the Australian Turf Club. Although we are hoping to welcome them back on course in the near future, we are working hard to support them away from the track with nearly 120,000 digital ownership experiences already delivered this year.
“We thank all of the owners and their horses who continue to make Sydney one of the biggest, strongest and most successful racing jurisdictions of anywhere in the world.
“We congratulate all of the winners and we are delighted this year to introduce a new category in Highest Strike Rate Syndication to recognise the ever-increasing number of owners joining syndicates as a social and affordable way to be a part of our racedays."
Australian Turf Club has extended its partnership with the NSWROA to deliver benefits to owners through Member programs and events.
NSWROA President, Tony Mitevski said: “The NSW Racehorse Owners’ Association has been conducting the State Champion Racehorse Awards for over 35 years.
“This is the first year we have been unable to hold our televised awards evening, Racing’s Night of Champions as the platform, and we are very pleased for the opportunity to instead collaborate with the Australian Turf Club in announcing this year’s ten trophy winners on-air and digitally.”
