ATC Foundation Delivers Assistance To Lismore (New Grant Round Opened)

The ATC Foundation has delivered further assistance to NSW race clubs as part of its ongoing work with communities hit by floods and natural disasters.

A $10,000 donation to Lismore Turf Club – from funds raised on course at ATC tracks – will be used to purchase a new tractor.

A destroyed tractor was part of significant damage to infrastructure, equipment and other resources essential to running Lismore Turf Club from the 2022 floods.

Along with the Lismore donation, amounts of $5,000 toward hay delivered to Cowra to assist local trainers with horse feed and bedding and $10,800 towards a hay drop in Orange and surrounding regions have been made.

ATC Foundation Chair, Angela Belle McSweeney said: “We are pleased to provide this further assistance to Lismore from the generosity of our customers and the racing industry.

“This $10,000 in practical assistance toward NSW flood relief brings to $58,000 in funding to regional race clubs and over $15,000 in donated equipment from the Australian Turf Club."

Racing NSW Country Chairman Bob Pavitt, Lismore Turf Club Chairman Mark Oaten and Member for Lismore Janelle Saffin MP, acknowledged the contribution and support of the ATC Foundation in supporting country race clubs following the devastating wet weather event and flooding throughout NSW in 2022.

Mr Pavitt said: “The floods resulted in extensive damage to the Club’s racing, training facilities, running rails and equipment. The response from both Racing NSW and the ATC Foundation has been significant in the recovery process."

Mr Oaten said: “The funds for the tractor will be a great boost for our Club and the team really appreciate it and can’t wait to put it to work."

Member for Lismore Janelle Saffin MP said: “It’s fantastic to see the racing industry supporting our community. I’d like to thank the ATC Foundation for their support."

The Australian Turf Club Foundation has again called for applications for a seventh round of grants to be directed to registered charities and racing industry bodies.

Project-related grants of up to $100,000 will be considered for Local Government Areas around the Club’s racecourses, as well as racing industry causes across NSW.

More than $1 million has already been raised and distributed by the ATC Foundation to charities and racing participants across NSW, including communities around the Club’s racecourses, since 2018.

All grant recipients must submit the following as part of the grant process:

• Confirmation of registered charity with DGR Item 1 and TCC status.
• Have an active Australian Business Number (ABN).
• Provide Total Revenue at the end of last financial year and provide financial report for verification.
• If/which ATC geographic destination does the charity service? (Randwick, Parramatta, Liverpool and Canterbury/ Bankstown)
• All other criteria as outlined in the application form.

Ms McSweeney said: “Our Club through the generosity of our Members and customers is proud to help so many causes right across NSW. We urge as many organisations as possible to apply so we can again quickly disperse funds."

Applications close on Friday, 3 November 2023 at 5pm.
