Appeals Update (Damian Lane, Brodie Loy)

Damian Lane
Licensed jockey Damian Lane has lodged an appeal against penalty after being found guilty by Racing NSW Stewards under AR137A(5)(a)(i)(ii) following his ride on El Dorado in Race 6 (Inglis Sires' Group 1 – 1400m) at Royal Randwick Racecourse on Saturday, 7 April 2018. Following a Stewards inquiry, Mr Lane was suspended for a period commencing on Sunday, 15 April 2018 to expire on Sunday, 22 April 2018 on which day he may resume riding. Jockey Lane was also fined $5000. A date for this appeal is yet to be set.

Brodie Loy
Licensed jockey Brodie Loy has lodged an appeal against penalty after being found guilty by Racing NSW Stewards under AR175(gg), (g) & (a). Following a urine sample obtained from Mr Loy on 29 January 2018 after he rode in Race 3 at Goulburn earlier that day, Stewards also inquired into the circumstances leading to the delay in that sample being provided to Stewards and subsequent events. Following a Stewards inquiry on 5 April 2018, Mr Loy was suspended for a period of 12 months backdated to 9 February 2018 (on which day he was stood down by Stewards) and to expire on 9 February 2019. A date for this appeal is yet to be set.
