Chris Waller has decided that Antonio Giuseppe will run in The Star Doncaster Mile on April 1 over The Championships in preference to tackling the 3200m of the Sydney Cup (April 8).
"Whilst it will be at some stage my intention go back to 2400 and beyond, I don’t feel that he has had the right preparation to do so this autumn," said Waller in a statement. "I therefore feel at this stage of his career, he is better suited kept at the shorter distances."
"We will also endeavour to put blinkers on him in the Doncaster providing he works well in them."
The four-year-old son of Shocking won brilliantly fresh over 1500m this preparation before running second in the Sky High Stakes (2000m) behind Tavago and then finishing fourth in Saturday's Ranvet Stakes (2000m) behind Our Ivanhowe.
Antonio Giuseppe will carry 51kg in the Doncaster Mile.
