After missing a year, Port Macquarie Race Club is extra keen on running one of its feature events of the year, the $70,000 Arrowfield Stud Queen of the North (1200m) this Friday. The race was not run in 2016 due to an extensive track reconstruction.
The Queen of the North forms part of an impressive Racing NSW Showcase program with $280,000 in prizemoney being offered. All support races are named after Arrowfield stallions – Dundee, Scissor Kick, Olympic Glory, Real Impact, Snitzel, Not A Single Doubt and Smart Missile.
“The Queen of the North is fast being recognised as a launching pad for promising country and provincial-trained fillies and mares,” said PMRC’s CEO, Michael Bowman.
“The most prominent past winner was Heavenly Glow who went on to win the Group 1 Arrowfield Stud Stakes and the Group 1 Australian Oaks in the same year.”
Nominations for the Port Macquarie race meeting close at 11am on Monday 30th January.
PMRC will host the McGuigan BMW raceday on Saturday 11 February, with a seven-race race matinee meeting. A free shuttle bus will operate from Gordon St Bus Station to the racetrack on both racedays.
