2017 NSW Country & Provincial Racing Award Winners

At the 2017 NSW Country and Provincial Racing Awards Dinner held tonight (Friday, 29 September 2017) at the Four Seasons Hotel, the winners of the various categories were announced and acknowledged for making a significant contribution to Country and Provincial racing.

The Country recipients of the awards for 2017 are as follows:

• Simon Nivison Special Achievement Award - PETER CLANCY • Country Horse of the Year Award - THE MONSTAR • Country TAB Race Club of the Year - MORUYA JOCKEY CLUB • Community Race Club of the Year - DEEPWATER JOCKEY CLUB • Outstanding Achievement Award - CROOKWELL & DISTRICT AMATEUR PICNIC RACE CLUB • Country Trainer of the Year - TREVOR SUTHERLAND • Country Jockey of the Year - RACHAEL MURRAY • Country Apprentice Jockey of the Year - JEAN VAN OVERMEIRE • Country Approved Rider of the Year - RICKY BLEWITT

Special Recognition Award was awarded to REG PAINE.

The Provincial recipients of the Awards for 2017 are as follows:

• Ted McCabe Provincial Recognition Award - PAUL PERRY • Provincial Horse of the Year - LE ROMAIN • Provincial Trainer of the Year - KRIS LEES • Provincial Jockey of the Year - JEFF PENZA • Provincial Apprentice Jockey of the Year - RACHEL KING

All finalists and nominees, however, should be very proud of their efforts during the 2016/17 season which deserves this level of recognition.
