NOTE: A celebration of Tommy's life will be held at Rosehill Racecourse commencing at 2pm on Wednesday 1st February. Light refreshments will be offered at the Rydges Rosehill sports bar afterwards to remember the times we all shared.
Racing NSW has been informed of the passing of former jockey Mr Tommy Good. Tommy was born on 20/11/1961 in Glasgow, Scotland and moved to Australia with his parents aged 3.
When he was 14, Tommy was taken to Warwick farm Racecourse by his father where he began working for trainer Harry Clark.
Tommy soon became apprenticed to Harry Clark and rode many winners, leading to a life totally devoted to horses.
In particular, Tommy always spoke very fondly of horses he had a wonderful association with including Blockbuster and Steel Blade in his early years of racing.
"Steel Blade was Dad's first winner at Rosehill 1979 and he continued an association with the Harry Clark stable for many years," said Jamie-Lee Good.
Tommy held ownership in a horse called Shen Gui (last start Dubbo winner on 19 December 2022) and was an integral part of the Lou Mary Racing stable at Scone.
"Dad offered his wisdom from over 40 years in the racing industry which all of us at the stables will be forever grateful for.
"He was a larger-than-life personality and had friends in every corner of the racing fraternity in Australia. He will be greatly missed."
Tommy Good is survived by his wife Sharon, children Jamie-Lee, Jessica & Tommy, and grandchildren Julian, Nash, Isabella, Oliver, Vincent & Charlie.
