Racing NSW Stewards today conducted a hearing of a charge issued against licensed apprentice jockey Partick Scorse under AR232(i) for providing false evidence to the Stewards at the Gosford race meeting on 7 May 2022 in respect to the provision of a Rapid Antigen Test.
Further evidence today was provided by apprentice Scorse who was assisted by his master licensed trainer Tracey Bartley.

The details of the charge being that apprentice Scorse did give false evidence at an interview and Stewards inquiry on 7 May 2022, in relation to the provision of a Rapid Antigen Test.
Plea: Guilty
Penalty
The following penalty considerations were taken into account.
• Early guilty plea at first available opportunity
• Apprentice Score’s disciplinary record
• Remorse expressed and admission made to the Stewards on 7 May 2022
• Principle of specific and general deterrence and what message is sent to the industry in respect to such conduct
• Purpose for issuing penalties as a protective measure for the image and interests of the Thoroughbred industry
Apprentice Scorse’s permit to ride in races was suspended for a period of 4 weeks reduced from 6 weeks for his guilty plea and remorse. Such suspension to commence on 25 May 2022, at the expiration of a careless riding suspension incurred on 7 May 2022, and to expire on Wednesday 22 June 2022 on which day he may ride.
