Jockey Quotes - Show County Quality

Gutsy sprinter-miler Le Romain lumped the 61kg to a strong first-up victory, setting up a big spring for the six-year-old.

Find out what the jockeys made of their runs in the Group 3 Show County Quality (1200m) at Royal Randwick.

James McDonald (Le Romain): “It was easy peasy. When you ride horses like these that are push button, he’s been around the traps, you could push a button and he’d do it himself. He knows what he is doing and is a pleasure to ride.

“He looks like he has come back better than ever. Kris Lees, credit to him, he said this horse was flying. I asked him about the big weight and he said “don’t worry!''

“You couldn’t rule him out (for an Everest slot). He is a tough warhorse if he did end up getting a slot. He has been there and done that. He has measured up against the best sprinters through the winter carnival.”

Tommy Berry (Takedown): “He is going okay, he has obviously been up for a while now and he might be past his best days.”

Andrew Adkins (Boss Lane): “Huge run, he raced a lot more fresh today which was what I liked about him, it was probably the hardest I have seen him dig in late and he had a real hot crack.”

Tim Clark (Siege Of Quebec): “Great effort, credit to the winner he had to carry the big weight, but he did have a lovely run where we were forced to do it a bit harder. He has come back in very good order.

Jay Ford (Super Tycoon): “Came off the bridle a long way out and was disappointing but he has been off the scene a long time.”

James P Innes (Condor Heroes): “Little bit all over the shop but he settled nice enough, he bled so forgive run.”

Rachel King (Three Sheets): “Really good run he will be better when there is a bit of give in the ground, ideal candidate for the Kosciuszko.”

Kathy O'Hara (Radiant Choice): “Probably not up to that level.”
