Josh Parr (Obamburumai): “My voice is breaking up. I’ve been doing some roaring in the last five minutes, I tell you. What a moment this is in my career, in my life, everything. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to pick up this horse today.”

“Obviously the disappointment of Yutaka Take missing out through injury, that doesn’t sit right with me. But the fact that I was Johnny on the spot, I got the ride and I produced one of my better ones to get the victory, I’m speechless.”

“He is one hell of an animal, isn’t he? I actually had a phone call with my Mum last night and Mum said, ‘what can I expect?” I said ‘I’m pretty sure he’s the best horse I’ve sat upon but he’s going to need a lot of luck’. “He got the luck and he showed his ability.”

Obamburumai wins the Golden Eagle at Rosehill

Ben Melham (Pericles): “He ran terrific. Had a beaut trip, came off the leader’s back, after straightening and I thought he was home. Just got beaten by a better one on the day.”

Zac Lloyd (Golden Mile): “Ran superb. Gave me a great thrill. That was a peak performance by the horse.”

Nash Rawiller (Hawaii Five Oh): “We’ll let him cool down a little bit but he just didn’t seem to adapt to that style of race. 1500m today meant we didn’t see the best of him.”

Tyler Schiller (Strait Acer): “Terrific run. Really good. I can’t be more proud of the horse. Has run enormous.”

Koby Jennings (Communist): “They didn’t flow as much as I thought and left us exposed throughout.”

Brett Prebble (Coin Toss): “We had a really lovely run from an awkward gate. But when I asked him for an extra gear we didn't have it. He tried hard.”

Jaden Lloyd (Knight's Choice): “Terrific run. Back to his best today. Copped interference early and it fired him up in the middle stages. Very gallant.”

Adam Hyeronimus (New Endeavour): “I thought he ran well. See a better horse next preparation.”

Craig Williams (Age Of Kings): “Was in the running line three wide with cover. Unfortunately after straightening we were holding out momentum but we had our position completely taken when we had pressure from both sides and got taken out of the race.”

Damian Lane (Amelia's Jewel): “Glad I came back in the jockey’s room alive.”

Sam Clipperton (Ruthless Dame): “Thought she acquitted herself very well. Had a nice run from the wide draw. Loomed to win the race and just needed a little bit more give in the ground to be ultra competitive.”

Michael Dee (Legarto): “Unfortunately she was slow away. Ran as well as she could.”

Kerrin McEvoy (Vienna Princess): “Ran great. We had a nice trip behind. They steadied down the side and had to switch out. Ran a fantastic race and was closest on the line.”

Dylan Gibbons (Razeta): “She needed a few more favours than she got. Just wasn’t her day today.”
