Trackwork rider Sophie Bird (riding for trainer Peter Robl) was dislodged from her horse when walking off the track near the 1600m gap during Randwick trackwork on Thursday morning (14th April).
Sophie was attended to by ambulance officers and has been transported to St Vincent’s Hospital with shoulder and leg pain.
[Update at 5:40pm on Thursday]: ] Sophie is staying in hospital overnight for observation. She was originally placed in a precautionary neck brace, but this has since been removed and her neck and back seem fine. The results of a scan of her abdomen shows a possible laceration on her liver. Sophie's responsive but still in a lot of pain.
