Racing NSW is the representative body appointed for leadership and regulation of the Thoroughbred horse racing throughout NSW. The Racing NSW Integrity Department employs Stipendiary Stewards.
Stewards are responsible for the integrity and safety of the racing industry and attend race meetings, barrier trials, trackwork and training stables to regulate and ensure compliance with the rules.
An excellent opportunity has now arisen to obtain a traineeship within the Racing NSW Integrity Department. The traineeship is to be conducted through Racing NSW with the successful applicant undertaking a program with both on and off the job training within the Integrity Department (principally within the role of a Stipendiary Steward) and will undertake a Certificate IV – Racing Administration. Currently there are positions available based in Sydney.
If you are decisive, proactive and self-motivated and have:
• a genuine interest in horse racing
• excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written communication
• the ability to work well under pressure
• proven keyboard skills and demonstrated knowledge in Word and Excel
• the ability to work well both independently and part of a team
• a valid driver’s licence
• practical horse skills (not essential)
- then we’re keen to hear from you.
Applicants with practical horse skills and a genuine interest in Thoroughbred racing are encouraged to apply.
Due to the inherent nature of a traineeship in the Integrity Department, your program will require you to work on a five out of seven-day roster basis (including weekend work) and attend venues and racecourses within the region of your employment.
Short listed applicants will undergo a probity check. The provision of disclosure statements and adherence to the Racing NSW Code of Conduct for Stipendiary Stewards/Integrity Officials are necessary requirements.
