Employment Opportunity - Assistant Racecourse Manager (Hawkesbury)

Hawkesbury Race Club has built a reputation as a premier racecourse on the provincial racing circuit in NSW. Our facility is located in the picturesque Hawkesbury Valley and features a 4-star motel, as well as a function centre and multiple food and beverage outlets.

About the Role
As the Assistant Racecourse Manager, you will be supporting the Racecourse Manager with all aspects of the course maintenance and track operations including coordination of work schedules and supervision of staff.

Duties will include but not be limited to

  • Assist in the management of the course and all training track operations and maintenance;
  • Daily maintenance of the racecourse and grounds, including pre and post-racedays and other functions and events;
  • Assist Racecourse Manager in scheduling maintenance and overseeing machinery and vehicles, including servicing and repairs;
  • Management of race day logistics, erecting raceday infrastructure, taking deliveries and coordinating contractors and suppliers on the grounds;
  • Maintain course accessibility and appearance using power and hand tools to perform activities such as mowing, weeding, edging, setup, raking sand traps, laying sod, and planting;
  • Safe and purposeful utilisation of tools and chemicals to perform activities such as weed abatement, pest control, disease management, irrigation, cultivating, and proper drainage;
  • Operate and maintain vehicles and equipment;
  • Assist Racecourse Manager in managing the track, horse stall and mounting yard operations on a raceday;
  • Complete Daily Quality control and Safety reports;
  • Complete track reports and report conditions to Racing NSW, the Racecourse Manager and participants;
  • Ensure consistency in course conditions by assisting Racecourse Manager with staff training, scheduling, and performance reviews …. plus much more!

This is a full-time role general working Monday to Friday, but we require someone with flexibility to work weekends at times to support raceday activities.

About You
We are looking for a reliable and motivated team player with previous experience in a similar Assistant Racecourse Manager, 2IC or Team Leader role. You will have experience in leading teams, scheduling work and you will possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

A current driver's licence is an essential requirement of this role. Qualifications in Turf Management, Horticulture or a related discipline would be highly regarded.
