Mr Les Polglase - a former long-time Director and Life Member of Tweed River Jockey Club - has passed after a lengthy battle with illness.
Les was a prolific owner and supporter of thoroughbred racing.
He was fortunate enough to be a part-owner in many tremendous horses including Group performers Kebede, Eastender, Invincible Star and Care To Think along with Country Championship Finalists Perfect Dare and more recently Rainbow Connection.
Les was also a part-owner of Herculian Prince who won the 2010 The Metropolitan at Randwick (and three other Stakes races) when trained by Gai Waterhouse.
Gai said yesterday: "Vale Les Polglase, the hotelier, racehorse owner and all round good bloke who passed away on Sunday surrounded by his loving family. Les, you & Herculian Prince will be winning Metropolitans in heaven for the rest of time."
Les Polglase will sorely missed by all that knew him with a memorial service for Les will be held at Tweed River Jockey Club from 11am on Monday, 22nd April 2024.
