Tamworth Winners - Tips For Friday 14th February

By Jack Webster

Tips and race by race preview by Jack Webster for Friday’s Tamworth meeting. Selections based on a good track.

Race 1 - 1:00PM CONCRETE INDUSTRY SUPPLIES CNTRY BOOSTED MDN PLATE (1000M)

11. Apparently lines up on her home track, having gone close with runner-up finishes in both starts here at this distance since returning from a spell. Strong effort in her most recent run, narrowly beaten with a clear gap to the rest of the field. Faces an identical task here and gets another shot to break through.

Dangers: 10. Royal Defense has placed in two of his three runs this campaign, including a runner-up finish, and was just behind the placings in his most recent effort at Dubbo. In the mix. 12. Subsidise is on debut and has been trialing well in preparation. A trial winner in his most recent hit-out, he’s drawn favorably and looks well-placed to make an impact first up. 2. Jukebox Edition is long overdue to strike. Runner-up last start, he has been knocking on the door and gets another chance here.

How to play it: Apparently WIN ($1.80 TAB Fixed Odds)

Race 2 - 1:35PM MCDONALDS TAMWORTH SUPER MAIDEN PLATE (1200M)

5. Miami Baby has shown promise in his initial three runs during his debut campaign. He trialed well in preparation for this campaign and finished just behind the placings at Warwick Farm first up. Better for that performance with a quick turnaround and can make an impact here, especially with natural improvement second up.

Dangers: 2. Rathoran was unlucky to just miss out here in his most recent run, doing his best work late in the race and displaying a devastating turn of foot. He’ll have a lot to do from the wide draw but has performed well at this track and distance in previous attempts and is right in the mix. 6. Buckles And Bows did well to make ground and finish just behind the placings last start. She draws the fence this time, is fitter second up, and will look for better race tactics to improve her result. 14. Tulipwood is on debut and has been well-prepared with three trials leading into this. Runner-up in her most recent trial, she’s drawn well and can make an impact first up.

How to play it: Miami Baby WIN ($3.50 TAB Fixed Odds)

Race 3 - 2:10PM PIRTEK TAMWORTH MAIDEN HANDICAP (1400M)

1. Aphelion gave a strong performance on debut at Muswellbrook, finishing runner-up. He presents here well-prepared with a trial win and a second-place finish in preparation, indicating he’s ready to return and make an impact first up.

Dangers: 9. Halle Bee has put together a string of runner-up finishes this campaign, with four second-place efforts before just missing out on the placings in her most recent run. She has performed well on her home track previously, benefits from a 1.5kg claim, and can make an impact again. 4. Hinune has shown promise since returning from a spell and ran home well in her most recent showing at Bathurst. Fitter for that run and right in the mix. 2. Call Me Magnifique comes off a trial win in preparation for his debut. Well-prepared and one to watch first up.

How to play it: Aphelion WIN ($2.90 TAB Fixed Odds)

Race 4 - 2:45PM WIN NETWORK BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (2100M)

1. Nature Boy looks to be the one to beat in this one. He was a winner last start at Grafton with a strong on-pace victory, leading throughout. Benefits from a 4kg claim and a favorable draw, and he will look to make it two in a row with a similar effort.

Dangers: 6. Bill Peyto has been producing consistent performances in recent starts, including a respectable placing at Walcha last time out. Backing up quickly with a one-week turnaround and can be in the mix again. 2. Hammoon Thunder put up a solid performance last start at Scone, finishing strong and unlucky to miss out despite chasing hard to the line. Can build off that effort and right in this. 11. Farraige has been hit-or-miss in form lately but has a positive record at this track. Among the better chances against the rest of the field.

How to play it: Nature Boy WIN ($7.00 TAB Fixed Odds)

Race 5 - 3:20PM THE HIDEAWAY CAFÉ BENCHMARK 74 HANDICAP (1600M)

6. Inferencia drops back to the country level after some competitive performances in recent starts at Rosehill and Newcastle. A winner at Newcastle three runs prior, followed by a placing before spell. She put in a respectable effort first up at Rosehill but was caught in an awkward position wide in a crucial stage. Better for that run and gets another chance to show her best here.

Dangers: 4. Aesthete has had a slow start to this campaign, failing to make an impact in three runs so far. However, he won twice over this track and distance in his previous campaign and will be looking to rediscover that form here. 7. Fiorsum Fred is another who hasn’t been competitive in recent starts but drops back to the country level, where he is better suited to this field. Capable of an improved effort. 2. Satay Chicken won first up at Dalby in his most recent showing. Gets an inside draw to aid his chances and has performed well at this track previously.

How to play it: Inferencia WIN ($6.00 TAB Fixed Odds)

Race 6 - 4:00PM KCE CIVIL CONTRACTORS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1400M)

6. Winged has found more consistent form recently since a stable change and moving from Victoria to his new home track here at Tamworth. Three placings from three starts since the stable change, with two of those efforts coming here. Drawn well and sure to make an impact again.

Dangers: 7. Hell Of A Lad hasn’t done much wrong in five career starts so far, recording three placings and a win. He finished outside the placings in his most recent effort at Taree, failing to fire at a crucial moment, but excuses can be made for that run. Capable of bouncing back here. 1. Clubman delivered an impressive debut win at Canberra and returns from a decent layoff. Drawn well and has the ability to repeat that effort first up. One to watch. 5. Takemine is the next best in this field, showing enough promise to be competitive.

How to play it: Winged WIN ($13.00 TAB Fixed Odds)

Race 7 - 4:40PM SHAY BRENNAN CONSTRUCTIONS BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP (1000M)

11. Kantishna will be looking to make it three wins in a row after a strong first-up victory here, followed by another win at Gunnedah last start. Didn’t appear to handle heavier ground in her initial campaign, but she finds more suitable conditions this time and faces a challenge she has proven capable of handling.

Dangers: 1. Zoubeauty is the major threat in this field. He failed to compete when racing at Randwick and Newcastle in previous efforts but was undefeated at the country level before placing here in his most recent start. Has the widest draw to contend with but remains a key contender. 14. Close My Eyes has been competitive in his first two starts back from a spell, winning one and finishing runner-up in the most recent. Presenting on his home track, he’s sure to build on those performances and be in the mix here. 8. Fuld’s Doubt showed promise in her first-up race at Scone but also faces a wide draw. A 3kg claim helps her case, and she can build off that last performance.

How to play it: Kantishna WIN ($4.00 TAB Fixed Odds)

Race 8 - 5:20PM VALE JOHN BUGGY "BUGS" COUNTRY BOOSTED BM58 HCP (1200M)

9. Upwardly Mobile comes off a strong win at Scone last start when resuming, holding off competition and running home well. Will need to overcome the wide draw, but he is fitter second up and only benefits from that run. Looks more than capable of striking again here.

Dangers: 7. Cossack Warrior is returning after being freshened and was too good for the rest in his last outing at Moree, leading throughout and finishing with a huge gap to the field. A solid trial in preparation suggests he's ready to return to his previous campaign form. 1. Albanjo comes off a win at Grafton last start and presents at a distance that suits. 3kg claim engaged and has the potential to show up here. 14. The Affirmative presents on her home track and can make an impact in this field

How to play it: Upwardly Mobile WIN ($4.60 Tab Fixed Odds)
