Wagga trainer Trevor Sutherland has joined Gundagai counterpart David Blundell at the top of the leaderboard in the Southern District Racing Association (SDRA) Winter Series.
Blundell and Sutherland are level on 22 points heading into the final leg of the series at Albury next Tuesday.
Sutherland picked up nine points at Wagga on Sunday, courtesy of Gentleman Max and Willy White Socks, to join Blundell in the lead.
Corowa’s Geoff Duryea and Wagga’s Dave Heywood share third place on 16 points, while Canberra trainer Luke Pepper is on 15.
Points are awarded to all participants with the winner picking up 12 points, 10 points for 2nd, 8 points for 3rd, 6 points for 4th, 5 points for 5th, 4 points for 6th, 3 points for 7th, 2 points for 8th and 1 point for 9th or worse.
Sutherland has two runners nominated for Tuesday's final of the series while Blundell has just one.
Sutherland will be represented by Gentleman Max and Willy White Socks while Short will fly the flag for Blundell in the Baxter Concrete SDRA Winter Handicap over 1500m.
The trainer who finishes with the most points will win $2500, funded by SDRA.
