Nowra Winners - Tips For Tuesday 31st November

Tips and race preview by Jack Webster for Tuesday’s Nowra meeting. Selections based on a good track.

Race 1 - 1:59PM NORM THOMASON MEMORIAL CNTRY BOOSTED MAIDEN (1100 METRES)

2. Ischyros is poised to make an impact in this race. He has showcased a strong turn of foot late in both runs since resuming this campaign, including a commanding finish from the back of the field to secure third at Mudgee last start. With a better race setup this time, he gets another chance and is sure to be a key contender.

Dangers: 6. Sawmill placed here on debut at her home track over this distance last month, showing promise in her initial run. After an 8-week let-up, she returns in a small field with another chance to impress. 1. Samara’s Beau delivered a respectable effort at Albury last outing, finishing just behind the placings. Fitter third up and benefits from a two-week turnaround. 5. Luna Jet on debut here after an underwhelming trial performance but finds a small field and has the opportunity to show up on race day.

How to play it: Ischyros WIN ($2.20 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 2 - 2:34PM MCDONALDS SHOALHAVEN CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE (2200 METRES)

8. Scottish Pearl is yet to break through but has been racing against tougher competition. She’s gone close with runner-up finishes in her last two starts, including a solid effort at Kembla Grange where she led throughout before being chased down late. Faces an easier task here with a better draw, positioning her well to be highly competitive.

Dangers: 6. Cosmos Factory has been knocking on the door with two solid performances in his last two starts. Battled on strongly from a tough position to secure third at Moruya last start. Third up and race fit here, with the inside draw providing a favourable setup. Capable of making an impact. 1. Dalio has shown competitiveness at the city level in the past, including a maiden win at Newcastle last campaign. Though recent form has been mixed, he has the potential to make an impact here. 5. Kahraba finds an easier race here back to the country level and can compete.

How to play it: Scottish Pearl WIN ($1.95 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 3 - 3:14PM SOLOMON MOTOR GROUP MAIDEN PLATE (1600 METRES)

10. Lulo Link drops back to the country level after going close but failing to strike at city grade. She travelled well and battled home strongly from a challenging position to finish third at Hawkesbury last start, where the winner proved too good. Racing at a distance that suits, she shapes as the main threat in this field.

Dangers:3. Mon The Celts is drawn well and has shown glimpses of competitiveness, particularly with his effort at Newcastle last start. With a better race setup, he can play a role in this one. 5. Blind Date was disappointing last start at Hawkesbury, finishing at the tail of the field, but has shown promise in earlier efforts. Second up, she will aim to rediscover her previous form and be more competitive. 2. On Order is beginning to show improvement and will look to build on an ordinary run at Moruya last start. With natural progression, she can be more competitive here.

How to play it: Lulo Link WIN ($2.25 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 4 - 3:54PM KEL CAMPBELL FUEL HAULAGE CNTRY BOOSTED BM 58 HCP (1200M)

7. Trezzamina had a competitive initial campaign before her spell and appears to be building off that foundation this time around. She resumed with a strong second at Goulburn and an impressive finish from a wide position last start. Her second-up effort at Queanbeyan is excusable. She draws the fence here and having done her best work over this distance and on similar track conditions, she has every chance to succeed.

Dangers: 4. Man Of Reign finished well last start despite having to make up plenty of ground late in the race. Better race tactics and forward riding applied here will serve in his favour. 9. Drawn Fours gave a respectable effort and showed improvement when finishing third at Queenbeyan last start, hitting the line well from the wide position. Another difficult draw and harder race but every chance. 3. Dylan’s Lad showed promise in earlier starts, though his form has tapered off recently. Drawn well here, he has the opportunity to rediscover his previous form and be competitive.

How to play it: Trezzamina WIN ($4.40 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 5 - 4:34PM SOUTH COAST RETREAT BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

5. Blesstas is hard to look past in this race. A winner on debut in Queensland before transferring to the Mitchell Beer stable, after which she won first up at Kembla Grange convincingly, outclassing her rivals. Back to the country level and drawing the fence, she’ll aim to continue that strong form here. Appears the main threat.

Dangers: 2. Outcast Girl secured back-to-back wins at Nowra and Scone before finishing runner-up at Newcastle last start, where she was boxed in at a critical moment. While she’ll need to overcome the wide draw, her prior wins at this distance and a previous victory on this track suggest she’s a key contender. 4. More Mischief boasts a strong record at this track, with two wins from three starts here. Though his form has been inconsistent of late, his last victory came at this track and distance, making him one to consider. 6. Mega Fight has shown marked improvement this campaign, including two strong performances at Kembla before breaking through with a win at Moruya last start. Right in this.

How to play it: Blesstas WIN ($2.15 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 6 - 5:14PM HENRY "OLD TOMMY" PASTERFIELD MEMORIAL BM 58 HCP (1000M)

2. Abuse Of Power had consistent form at the city level prior to her spell and boasts an impressive trial win in preparation for her return. With a 2kg apprentice claim engaged and a favourable draw, she looks well-placed to deliver a strong performance first up.

Dangers: 5. Canamble showed promise in early starts, winning on debut and placing in her next start. While she won at Dubbo convincingly to races prior, her runs before and between have been ordinary. Gets the inside alley and 2kg apprentice claim here. Can deliver an improved performance in this field. 10. Chiky Chiky Mama steps into a favourable distance and performs best on firm ground. She’s gone close when third up in previous campaigns and finds a more suitable race here, giving her every chance to feature. 1. Susu is fitter third up and benefits from a favourable draw alongside a 2kg apprentice claim. Prefers dry track conditions and has the potential to make an impact in this field.

How to play it: Abuse Of Power WIN ($4.60 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 7 - 5:54PM STROUD HOMES MAIDEN HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

5. Lightly Sparkled has shown consistent improvement this campaign with three respectable runs since resuming, including a determined third at this track two weeks ago. With a more favorable draw and fitness on her side, she looks well-placed to deliver a strong performance.

Dangers:
10. Havasu Falls debuted at Kensington earlier this year, finishing just outside the placings. After a lengthy layoff, she resumes at the country level and looms as a significant threat in this field. One to watch. 14. Ladie’s Secret has consistently finished just outside the placings in her three starts to date. With a smaller field due to recent scratching’s, a 2kg claim, and an advantageous inside draw, she has a strong setup to break through and succeed here. 8. Hey Jude ran a solid second at this track last start. With added fitness, she gets another chance to be competitive here.

How to play it: Lightly Sparkled WIN ($4.60 TAB Fixed Odds)

All the fields, form and replays for Thursday’s Hawkesbury meeting

Happy New Year.
