Race 1 - 1:00PM AURA CARAVAN CLASS 2 SHOWCASE HANDICAP (1600 METRES) |
---|
Keen to see 1. Dream Eclipse tackle the mile for the first time as he has always given the impression he’d relish it. Did a good job to knuckle down at Goulburn to win over 1200m before getting a long way back at Kembla but he hit the line with subsequent Saturday winner Bluff ‘N’ Bluster.
Dangers: 5. Elarski has more upside than anything else here coming off a dominant Canberra maiden win, running faster time than the Class 1. Another win isn’t far off for 7. Viking Power and he also shapes to appreciate 1600m.
How to play it: Dream Eclipse WIN ($5 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: ODDS
Race 2 - 1:35PM GWM CANNON X COUNTRY MAIDEN SHOWCASE PLATE (1400 METRES) |
---|
6. Lord Remy has only had three starts and he is yet to miss a place. The three-year-old does jump from 1100m to 1400m, with such a rise in trip always a query, but he strikes a very winnable race to overcome that knock.
Dangers: Forgive 11. Flying Mia’s last start fifth on a bottomless track. Her first up run suggested that a maiden win wasn’t far away. Concede hopes to 5. Yorker and 1. Aye Darby who have met before with Yonker winning that battle.
How to play it: Lord Remy WIN ($2.25 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT
Race 3 - 2:10PM GWM CANNON L CLASS 1 SHOWCASE HANDICAP (1000 METRES) |
---|
2. Monte Di Fiore kept boxing on last start at Hawkesbury to run third after a five week break. That should see him present a touch fitter here and having drawn the inside, maps to lead this field up. Will give a sight.
Dangers: 3. Everyone would have been on top but for the barrier. It dictates that she’ll likely be ridden conservatively but if the leaders overdo it in front, she’ll be one of the strongest late.
How to play it: Monte Di Fiore WIN ($4.60 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT
Race 4 - 2:45PM AVIDA MOTORHOME BELLE OF THE SOUTH- F&M BENCHMARK 66 SHOWCASE HANDICAP (1200 METRES) |
---|
The John Thompson-trained 9. Silk Tie is a talented filly the ability to march through the grades, particularly in country company. With any luck from the wide gate, she’s very hard to beat. Her last start Gosford run was better than it reads on paper.
Dangers: 4. Kimberley Rain won first up last preparation and is an honest mare with form around some handy gallopers. 2. Temoin Chaud looks the likely leader and will take catching. Well found in early markets, however.
How to play it: Silk Tie WIN ($3.20 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT
Race 5 - 3:20PM HAVAL H6 CG&E SHOWCASE MAIDEN HANDICAP (1100 METRES) |
---|
Have liked what we’ve seen from unraced three-year-old 5. Rupertson at the trials. The Bjorn Baker-trained gelding showed a stack of speed to bolt in at Kembla back in early November before proving his versatility in a more recent trial in taking a sit.
Dangers: 6. San Paulo is also on debut here and off his most recent Warwick Farm trial, he can also run well on debut. Has already had a couple of different trainers even before he’s had a start which is always a query.
How to play it: Rupertson WIN ($10 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT
Race 6 - 4:00PM COUNTRY MOTOR COMPANY NOWRA SHOWCASE CUP (1600 METRES) |
---|
1. Maid Of Ore didn’t do much first up at Kembla Grange but there was more pressure in the middle stages of that race than met the eye. This isn’t a deep Nowra Cup, she has won at this track earlier in her career and has great stats at the mile (5:2-0-2).
Dangers: 2. Prince Of Arragon is much better than what he produced at Kembla last start. Forgive him that and it’s an easy case to make that he’s the horse to beat. However, there isn’t enough in the early price to take that leap of faith.
How to play it: Maid Of Ore WIN ($12 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT
Race 7 - 4:39PM HAVAL JOLION F&M SHOWCASE MAIDEN HANDICAP (1100 METRES) |
---|
2. Cool Reception made a big impression in his one Kembla Grange trial, ripping clear of his four rivals to win it by four lengths. He wasn’t brilliant into stride but mustered quickly to hold a spot. Expecting similar on his debut from barrier 1.
Dangers: 4. Joyzel has the benefit of a run under her belt and did enough at Wyong when hard in the market. Can only run well in this. 8. Texas Star was strong through the line in both of her trials.
How to play it: Cool Reception WIN ($8 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: EVENS
Race 8 - 5:17PM GWM BLACK EDITION SHOWCASE BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1400 METRES) |
---|
6. Aidenabet won two on the bounce before starting a single figure chance when fourth to Festival Dancer at Goulburn. Has been freshened up since then and comes back from the mile to 1400m. This is a wide open race with a stack of chances and he’s one of them.
Dangers: 3. Buzz ‘N’ Joe has returned better than ever and only has to hold his form. 9. Choosday Nights is a handy mare but could be a run short first up. 13. Lexi’s Choice could be a sharp improver out to 1400m and back to country grade.
How to play it: Aidenabet WIN ($6 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT
