Racing on the Riverside Track where the course is rated a Soft 6 with the rail in the True position.
Race 1 (12:45pm) IRON JACK MAIDEN PLATE (1200m) |
---|
A likely improving Soft 6 on the Riverside tracks starts with the maidens. From a soft draw, Canberra three-year-old 8. Super Helpful ($1.70 favourite on TAB) can break through third-up with blinkers added. Fought on fairly in a better maiden 10 days ago and most of these could take a long time to win a race.
Dangers: Also coming through deeper form lines from over the border, 5. Road To Emmaus ($5) can peak at his third start while debutante three-year-old 7. Silver Canvas ($17) and mares 9. Another Star ($8.50) and 11. Missierose ($8) are all in exotic calculations.
How to play it: Super Helpful to win
Odds and Evens: Split
Race 2 (1:20pm) WAGGA WAGGA EARLY YEARS LEARNING CENTRE MDN PLATE (1200m) |
---|
Albury five-year-old 2. Deep Space ($3.50) has placed in his last two and is ready to break through at his fourth start. No match for the winner but stuck on well to find the line 10 days ago and this is weaker.
Dangers: Victorian mare 10. Beans ($3 fav) draws to get a nice trail and has run into the placings in three of her last four. Keep safe resuming stallion 4. Lambardi ($9) who was competitive enough in better company across last prep and blinkers are back on, while 12. Princess Warrior ($3.60) can continue improving at her third start after being beaten a long way by a smart one.
How to play it: Deep Space to win
Odds and Evens: Evens
Race 3 (2:00pm) SOUTHWEST STOCKFEEDS CG&E CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1050m) |
---|
Improving four-year-old 5. Important Product ($2.40 fav) is the one to beat second-up carrying half kilo less after a nice closing return in BM 58 grade.
Dangers: Capable five-year-old 3. Openhimup ($2.80) can find any number of ways not to win and his lone win from 19 starts has been frustrated with nine placings. Again finished off well from an awkward spot resuming and suited over an extra 150m. Include 1. Mr Morley ($9.50) third-up in wider exotics.
How to play it: Important Product to win and quinella 3 and 5
Odds and Evens: Odds
Race 4 (2:40pm) REECE GROUP WAGGA WAGGA BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1100m) |
---|
Tough sprint with plenty of chances. Home track five-year-old 1. Gironde ($3 fav) hit the line well resuming and is a peak second-up performer. Saddled with a big weight, but drops significantly in grade.
Dangers: Inconsistent 4. Starliv ($3.20) has more than enough ability and a drying track will help. Won on the main track here two starts back before dropping out on heavy ground. Albury mare 8. Baria ($6) will go forward and is better placed on a soft surface fourth-up, while 7. Stone Cold ($5.50) is on the next line.
How to play it: Gironde to win
Odds and Evens: Split
Race 5 (3:15pm) 100 CLUB 2022 AVAILABLE NOW MAIDEN HANDICAP (1660m) |
---|
Very keen on Albury mare 6. Meladia ($2.40 fav) who draws to get plenty of cover and should be right at her peak fifth-up. Has charged home from well back in her last three in what have proved useful form races and a much stronger and more experienced jockey takes over.
DANGERS: Progressive four-year-old 1. Undisturbed ($2.70) has missed narrowly in two of his last three and steps up in trip at the right time, but is drawn off the track. Gap to the rest headed by provincial mare 7. Stryke 'em Onesie ($8) fifth-up with a 2kg claim.
How to play it: Meladia to win
Odds and Evens: Evens
Race 6 (3:50pm) BLAKE STREET MEATS BM 58 HCP - HEAT OF WAGGA STAYERS (1800m) |
---|
A Heat of the Wagga Stayers Series. Like progressive home track five-year-old 5. Blazing Zone ($4.60) well into the prep. Surged home late in similar grade to beat all bar Sumdeel who then ran a terrific third placing in the Highway at Kembla on Saturday.
Dangers: Local mare 9. Dolphina ($3.50 fav) is the immediate threat from the inside draw on her preferred soft surface after charging home to miss narrowly in tougher grade at Canberra. Keep safe 2. Scarleo ($8) with blinkers added second-up over more ground. Honest 7. Wise Dragon ($4.60) has been in and around the money all prep although generally in weak grades, while 3. Larmour ($9) is over the odds after finishing close-up at Canberra behind Milamoo who then produced another huge and luckless run next start.
How to play it: Blazing Zone to win
Odds and Evens: Odds
Race 7 (4:25pm) TERMINATE PTY LTD MAIDEN HANDICAP (1050m) |
---|
This looks ideal for talented Deep Field mare 4. Moon Dancer ($1.90 fav) who resumes for a second prep with a key gear change. Trialled nicely right alongside Omar who then beat a good BM 66 field only seven days later.
Dangers: Provincial three-year-old 1. Oblique ($3) also resumes off a quieter trial but normally comes to hand quickly.
How to play it: Moon Dancer to win
Odds and Evens: Split
Race 8 (5:05pm) DELTA STAR DESIGNS CLASS 3 HANDICAP (1200m) |
---|
Chances galore here and the early tempo will be crucial. Well touted ex-Kiwi mare 5. Rhapsody In Blue ($3.90 fav) dug in hard to win first-up for the new Canberra stable nearly 3 weeks back. This is tougher but she would have derived great benefit from that effort, and sneaks down in the weights with winkers going on.
Dangers: Plenty of them headed by rival Canberra four-year old 6. All Formidable ($5) who dropped out like he was shot after an awkward start and then leading in a Highway at Rosehill. Better suited back in this grade with a friendlier draw and tongue tie applied. Watch the betting on 1. Big Day Out ($6) third-up from a soft draw with a claim, while another Victorian 2. Cuffe's Grange ($4.80) and 4. Gave Me You ($4.60) resuming off two progressive trials, can run into the placings.
How to play it: Rhapsody In Blue to win
Odds and Evens: Split
Race 9 (5:40pm) IRON JACK F&M CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1050m) |
---|
Speed should be very solid in this but none more than promising Canberra filly 5. Devine Miss ($2.40 fav) who can take control from a handy draw and go back-to-back at just her third start. Bounced to the front resuming off a five-month break in heavy ground and gave nothing else a chance; headed for much bigger prizes than this.
Dangers: Lightly raced mare 4. Spritely Miss ($4) won her maiden two starts back and has enough speed to zip over from a wider draw. Include in extoics 2. Punkzy ($5) resuming from a low gate.
How to play it: Devine Miss to win
Odds and Evens: Split
