Neil Evans' Tips For Nowra (Sunday)

By Neil Evans

Track Soft 6/7 and rail true so pattern slowly trending away from the fence

Race 1 MAIDEN HCP (1400m):

Kembla-trained 3. Aldasha will find this a little easier than last start flop at home in heavy ground, and drops in weight for third-up run.

Dangers: Randwick-trained 2. Vermont is better than last start failure at Canberra, and will appreciate the sting out of the track.

How to play it: Aldasha to win.

Race 2 BM 66 HCP (1600m):

Competitive race, with Kembla mare 5. Burden Of Proof ready to break back into the winner's circle on an eight day back-up from a solid effort in similar grade on a Heavy 9 last start. Previously raced against much stronger in town, and closed well behind a nice horse at Newcastle.

Dangers: Goulburn mare 3. Nagging looking well placed dropping back in quality from a fair effort in the Albury Mile, and also advantaged in rain-affected ground. Sapphire Coast-trained 2. Garros won here two starts back before bumping into a smart one when well beaten at Kembla last start.

How to play it: Burden Of Proof to win and quinella 3 and 5.

Race 3 CL1 & MAIDEN PLATE (1600m):

Most of these have had plenty of chances already, including local mare 8. High Potential, but she's never looked better placed fourth-up this prep back down on the limit weight. Just missed in similar grade here two runs back before an even effort at Goulburn. Draws to get a lovely trail behind the speed.

Dangers: Kembla 3YO 7. Golden Boy was big odds when well beaten in a stronger maiden at Newcastle, but better suited this company dropping in weight. Expect Randwick filly 9. Amami to be in the finish backing up quickly from a decent maiden at Kembla, dropping to 54kg and in better ground. Include Sapphire Coast gelding 3. Pinetto who hasn't been far from the action in three runs this prep. Queanbeyan mare 2. Pahruli stays at the mile and should be ready to peak third-up.

How to play it: first four 7-8-9/2-3-7-8-9.

Race 4 BM 58 HCP (1000m):

Keen on Warwick Farm filly 3. Dizzy Miss Lizzy first-up off two trials. Won third-up here to finish her first prep, will come to hand quickly, and handles rain-affected ground.

Dangers: Doubt there are any, but 6. Citizen's Arrest will be competitive fresh & can run the quinella slot.

How to play it: Dizzy Miss Lizzy to win and Quinella 3 & 6.

Dizzy Miss Lizzy runs second in a Warwick Farm trial on March 22

Race 5 CL2 HCP (1200m):

Unbeaten Hawkesbury mare 2. Meditate has made an impressive start to her career bolting in a maiden at Orange before again rounding them up easily at Bathurst when heavily backed. Creeps up a little in weight and drawn wider, but no reason why she can't make it three straight.

Dangers: Warwick Farm mare 1. Zabeel's Choice raced against much stronger late last year, but has a big weight and wide barrier first up, and was out the back in her only trial.

How to play it: Meditate to win.

Race 6 MAIDEN PLATE (1000m):

Intriguing race, with plenty of first-starters, but 2YO Warwick Farm filly 11. Miss Amelia (More Than ready x Amelia's Dream by Redoubte's Choice) has been a star at the trials winning all three, including a recent dominant showing in heavy ground. Beautifully bred and the one to beat getting weight from the older horses.

Dangers: Another 2YO on debut Kembla filly 12. Noble Belle (Excellebration x Princess Fiorella by Chief Bearheart) also looked smart in a recent trial and draws the fence. Resuming Warwick Farm 4YO 1. Kid Galahad had two fair runs in the spring, but looks to have improved significantly judging from two forward trials. Queanbeyan mare 4. Bonza Lady (Bon Hoffa x Dignity Lady by Manner Hill) tuned up for debut with narrow trial win at home, and stable rarely travels them unless they're ready. Randwick mare 5. Unimaginable (Myboycharlie x Zobeide by Rock Of Gibraltar) has had three quieter trials ahead of debut for strong yard, and was scratched from Wyong yesterday for this; while big watch on how Warwick Farm filly 8. Tell No Tales resumes off two trials after a near nine month absence. Took on last year's Golden Slipper winner on debut and then outclassed at Group 3 level.

How to play it: Miss Amelia to win and quinella 11 and 12.

Race 7 BM 58 HCP (1400m):

Kembla filly 10. Franquare has come back well this prep. Flew home to win first-up this track when heavily backed, and was strong to the line again in better grade at home. Extra trip suits and draws to get the right trail back in the field.

Dangers: Randwick 6YO 4. One Of The Kind has had two runs back from a spell, and should peak third-up, but goes up sharply in weight; while Kembla-trained 11. Stitched Up has been mixing form and grades but is capable.

How to play it: Franquare to win.
