Neil Evans' Tips For Lismore (Monday)

By Neil Evans

Track Good 4 and rail out 1.5m from 400m to WP and true the remainder so mainly on-pace early before slow trend away from the fence.

Race 1 BM 66 HCP (1200m):

Tantalising, although thin, sprint test for the older horses gets us underway, and this looks at the mercy of Deagon-based 6YO mare 1. Flying Machine who has had two good closing runs back from a lengthy spell. Crosses the border for a very winnable race for emerging stable, despite lumped with 60kg.

Dangers: Doubt there are any, but local 5YO mare 6. Laoban Tai Tai will improve second-up rising in trip and drawn the fence off an average return at Ballina; while include 8YO Casino mare 3. She Tells Lies who draws well, and Murwillumbah 4YO gelding 4. Ajani who has handy second-up form and was scratched from the next race, in exotics.

How to play it: Flying Machine to win. Odds and Evens (First 2): Split.

Race 2 BM 58 HCP (1400m):

Moderate and even affair augurs well for 6YO Kempsey gelding 3. I've Got This who can make it two wins from his last three off a two-month break. Swept home for a dominant BM 66 win at Tamworth two runs back before closing well again behind a nice horse at Tuncurry.

Dangers: Watch the market big time on 4YO Gold Coast mare 4. Willo Titto who resumes off two forward trials from an economical draw with the blinkers going on, and stable is building a nice reputation for striking early in a horse's prep. Be surprised if anything else wins; although improving 4YO Gold Coast gelding 5. Buzzoni won his maiden first-up on this track, although two runs since have only been fair.

How to play it: I've Got This to win and quinella 3 and 4. Odds and Evens: Split.

I've Got This wins at Tamworth two starts ago

Race 3 MAIDEN HCP (1200m):

Expect a much better run second-up from 3YO Ballina colt 3. Sinepari who weakened on debut at Murwillumbah, but suited much better here.

Dangers: Gold Coast 4YO mare 5. All Style showed in her one run back this prep will far outweigh a poor initial campaign around tracks closer to Sydney. Trainer has rung the gear changes, and she draws to park right behind the speed.

How to play it: Sinepari to win. Odds and Evens: Odds.

Race 4 CL3 HCP (1516m):

Ballina 4YO mare 1. Countess De Galvez has had five runs back this prep, mainly in superior metro company after resuming with a fast-finishing win in BM 62 grade at Ipswich. Despite her form having tapered off a little, and sneaking further up in the weights, she's still the clear one to beat.

Dangers: Local 4YO gelding 3. Chiaki has been mixing form and distance, and probably needs to find a length or two, but all three wins have been here at home and he goes down in weight; while 4YO Grafton gelding 4. Hurricane Max finished strong to win here last start, and this is his pet trip.

How to play it: Countess De Galvez to win. Odds and Evens: Odds

Race 5 MAIDEN PLATE (1400m):

Tough maiden, with a few chances, although 4YO Pt Macquarie gelding 2. Suffice will be very hard to beat second-up over a longer journey after an even run on debut at Moree when well backed.

Dangers: Was stunned 3YO Gold Coast gelding 5. Private Detective went around at such a big price on debut at home when doing his best work late, and bred to get over plenty of ground; while 3YO filly and stablemate 10. Our Girl Wanda can also improve third-up from a nice draw over more ground.

How to play it: Suffice to win and trifecta 2/5,10/5,10. Odds and Evens: Split.

Race 6 CL1 HCP (1516m):

Thin middle distance battle here which suits 4YO Grafton mare 5. Lily Of China who can crack it for a second career win down in weight and back in trip. Has been in and around the money in her last couple, and this looks a shade weaker.

Dangers: The Gold Coast raid continues with 5YO gelding 2. Prince Of Arran who, while not quite as good as his jet-setting namesake who ran second in the Melbourne Cup, comes back a notch in class after some consistent form across SE Qld, and can take up a cosy controlling position from a soft draw. Respect the progression of 4YO Ballina mare 6. Maximalist who stormed home to win his maiden this track two runs back before closing off well again at Beaudesert despite being easy in betting. Pt Macquarie 4YO gelding 4. Huey has more ability than his modest record suggests, and was game to the line in a Class 1 under more weight last start.

How to play it: Lily Of China to win and quinella 2 and 5. Odds and Evens: Split

Race 7 CL1 HCP (1100m):

Smart 5YO Gold Coast mare 3. Sparkling Facet hasn't raced for nearly nine months, but has looked sharp winning both her recent trials, and only just missed first-up last prep at Ipswich.

Dangers: Coffs Harbour 5YO gelding 4. Brother Magic resumed off a year-long break with a tidy maiden win at Taree, and the blinkers comes off.

How to play it: Sparkling Facet to win; and quinella 3 and 4. Odds and Evens: Split.

Sparlking Facet wins a trial at the Gold Coast on October 28
