Muswellbrook Winners - Tips For Friday 1st April

By Nick Berney.

Tips and race by race preview by Nick Berney for Friday’s Muswellbrook meeting. Selections based on a heavy track. Monitor for bias/pattern.

Race 1 - 1:15PM POWER FM STARMAKER 2YO HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

Tricky 2YO race with first starters engaged and minimal disclosed heavy track form. 14. Writrose trialled well when not extended at Warwick Farm seven days ago on a heavy 8 and was strong past the post. She looks like an improving filly, and expect her to be hitting the line hard. Each-way.

Dangers: 11. Petrograd, another debutant, showed natural gate speed in her heats and is trained by Peter & Paul Snowden. Further, she can roll forward and the wide draw is of little concern with the 1000m chute only having one turn. 12. Steel My Thunder has a starting price profile edge relative to some of her rivals. 4. Compelling Truth has race experience and will roll forward. 6. Red Cobra and 13. Syrian Star have been solid at the trials as well.

How to play it: Writrose E/W. ($11.00 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

Writrose runs fifth in a trial at Warwick Farm on March 25

Race 2 - 1:50PM HOLLYDENE ESTATE WINE SHOWCASE MAIDEN (1280 METRES)

15. Oakfield Feather represents value after racing well in a high rating provincial maiden last start at Newcastle. The four-year-old mare had every chance in the run but never shirked the task when running fourth. She drops to country grade, can roll forward for Reece Jones and a repeat of her last start can put her in the finish.

Dangers: 5. Hombre arguably should’ve won last start at Coonamble after being well backed $3.10-$2.20 and was severely checked/blocked for the majority of the straight. The Cody Morgan trained galloper is ready to win and is proven on heavy ground with multiple figures that line up. Add 2. Boss and 13. Launch Attack to all exotics.

How to play it: Oakfield Feather WIN ($14.00 TAB Fixed Odds) & Hombre WIN ($2.40 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: ODDS.

Race 3 - 2:25PM SCONE EQUINE HOSPITAL SHOWCASE CLASS 2 HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

5. Salire was impressive winning first-up at this track/distance and ran the fastest closing sectionals of the entire meeting. The four-year-old gelding ran his final 600m/400m/200m splits in 33.39/22.22/11.37. The Cameron Crockett trained galloper was then honest second-up at Mudgee when starting a well-backed $1.60 favourite but just raced slightly keen and tried hard to the line. In addition, that race rated the highest overall relative to the meeting when historically comparing time, class and additional factors with three subsequent winners to confirm the form. He has trialled well in-between runs with the nose-roll on and has a dominant last start figure compared to his rivals.

Dangers: 2. Circularity was wide on a fast-pace last start at Rosehill in a Class 3 TAB Highway. He has trialled well enough since and is down in grade. 4. Lambdoma Energy who has provincial form resumes and maps to get all favours. 7. Tidal Impact has a strong starting price profile.

How to play it: Salire WIN ($2.90 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: ODDS.

14. Rosie Impact burst through to win in style at Taree last preparation producing a career peak figure and then was immediately spelled. Some query first-up on a heavy track, but the three-year-old filly is lightly raced, trialled well and can sprint fresh.

Dangers: 4. Weather Channel also resumes and can sprint. Some query 12. She Hulk on wet ground, but she is rock-hard fit and consistent. 10. Tough Case will roll forward from the tricky draw and maps to control the pace. Each-way.

How to play it: Rosie Impact E/W ($6.50 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: EVENS.

Race 5 - 3:40PM TAB COUNTRY MAGIC CLASS 3 SHOWCASE HANDICAP (1450 METRES)

Lightly raced 9. Schillers Myst is a nice type and improved throughout each run last preparation. Before spelling, the four-year-old mare ran on strongly in a high rating Class 3 TAB Highway at Rosehill. She hasn’t had an official trial, and her best may come deeper into preparation but, undoubtedly, she has the most scope relative to her rivals.

Dangers: 5. Danza In The Dark is rock-hard fit and proven on wet ground. 6. Zadig has had a long-time off but does have the ability. 2. Impactful is a last start winner and maps to get all favours. 8. Off Her Roca is a knockout chance.

Race 6 - 4:20PM HORSEPOWER SHOWCASE SKELLATAR SPRINT (1000 METRES)

Lightly raced 8. Satin Ribbons has an impressive record and progressed her way through the grades last preparation on an upwards ratings spiral. The three-year-old filly has had two trials leading into this assignment, and she won her latest heat running the fastest overall time of the morning. The wide draw is of little concern, with only one turn coming out of the 1000m chute. Further, she has the natural early speed to find the lead and a repeat of her last prep figures will put her in the finish.

Dangers: 2. Lancaster Bomber is rock-hard fit and will be strong late. 7. Redoute’s Image has trialled well on a soft 7 at Gosford and has figures that line up well. 4. Bugalugs is consistent and maps to get all favours.

How to play it: Satin Ribbons WIN ($2.80 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: EVENS.

Race 7 - 5:00PM THE ROYAL MUSWELLBROOK GOLD CUP SHOWCASE (1500 METRES)

11. Ita who is coming out of time/sectional merit races this preparation has been solid and consistent. The four-year-old mare was up sharply in distance from 1250m-1600m last start a Warwick Farm nine days ago and that run will top her off for a peak performance. She has a fitness edge through racing on rain-affected ground all campaign and can absorb the anticipated even/fast tempo. A repeat of her last start figure will put her in the finish.

Dangers: 6. Casino Mondial was wide without cover second-up at Rosehill and has trialled in between runs. Market watch 3. Cristal Breeze who has the ability to win but has been out of form. 15. McCormack may have the last shot and is proven on wet ground.

How to play it: Ita WIN ($4.00 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

Race 8 - 5:40PM BHP MT ARTHUR COAL WAYNE HARRIS SHOWCASE (1280 METRES)

3. Constant Flight has trialled well in fast time/sectionals for new trainer Cameron Crockett. He has strong form-lines around group class gallopers such as Isotope and Ef Troop in Queensland and expect a positive ride from Brooke Stower. Each-way.

Dangers: 5. Casino Seventeen has been trialling quietly and can sprint fresh. Add 1. Two Big Fari and 2. Ventura Ocean who have ratings to win.

How to play it: Constant Flight E/W ($7.00 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: ODDS.
