Jockey Mathew Cahill was dislodged from his mount during the running of Race 4 at Canberra on Friday (22nd April).
[Update at midday on Friday 29th April]: Mathew is still recovering from yesterday's surgery but unfortunately he has come down with COVID at Royal North Shore Hospital.
[Update at 1pm on Thursday 28th April]: Mathew was fitted with the halo brace yesterday which went well which he will be wearing for the next three months. He also had his thumb fixed yesterday.
[Update at midday on Wednesday 27th April]: Mathew is having surgery on his thumb and will also have his halo brace fitted today.
[Update at 9am on Tuesday 26th April]: Mathew has been seen by the specialist at Royal North Shore Hospital and is having an MRI scan of his neck today. For his neck fracture he will be put in a halo brace for three months. He is awaiting surgery on his thumb later this week.
[Update at 11am on Saturday]: Mathew has a fracture of his thumb which requires surgery and also has a fracture of his C1 vertebra. Mathew has been transferred to Royal North Shore Hospital.
