Whilst official Australia Day celebrations aren't slated to begin around NSW until Saturday 26th January, Goulburn District Race Club will get into the Australia Day spirit early with their race meeting on Friday 25th January.
Nothing is more Australian than a country race meeting and Goulburn District Race Club has eight races programmed on Australia Day Eve at the tablelands track.
It will be the club's first meeting of the new calendar year and CEO Robyn Fife loves the Australia Day tie-in for a club with a proud Aussie tradition of thoroughbred racing.
"On a weekend where we celebrate all things Australian there are not many things more ingrained in our national psyche than getting to a racetrack," Ms Fife said.
"There are plenty of activities going on in Goulburn on Australia Day so its great for our club to be up and running with a race meeting as part of our community's celebrations.
"Our racing surface is in great order at present thanks to 28mm of rainfall over the last few weeks to help compliment our irrigation work.
"We'll also be wording up our caterers for a supply of pies and lamingtons!"
