Lyle Chandler Keen On His $6 Chance At Tamworth (Friday)

As widely travelled South African trainer Lyle Chandler finalised his plans for promising dual acceptor Daksha, entered at the Tamworth TAB meet on Friday and Rosehill Gardens on Saturday, he was keen to expand on a value runner at Tamworth.

“I’ve an opinion of Movin’ Denman - a genuine improver this preparation," offered Scone’s Chandler who won a Highway double with his Country Championships contender Banju early season at Rosehill and the Kensington track.

"Daksha will go to Rosehill for the Highway, obviously the James McDonald factor and proven series form where we’ve had previous success.”

At a capacity Tamworth seven-race meeting is largely the overflow from recent washed-out meetings in the region.

Movin’ Denham is a $6 chance on TAB contesting the final event a 1000m BM 58 with 58.5kg for regular rider Kacie Adams.

He is the lone runner for Lyle, a previous foreman for the O’Shea and Van Dyke stables who is rapidly building a successful team at Scone, including maiden winner Movin’ Denman.

“His second at Muswellbrook last start was a really nice pointer into this, the bad weather put us behind the eight ball with his prep, he’s really come on.”

The lightly raced four-year-old was strong winning a Dubbo maiden in October.

At Muswellbrook two weeks ago in a Class I, Movin’ Denman was beaten in a photo by Hiraishin after racing on-pace, and Chandler considers if the weather hadn’t put back his preparation he’d have won.

An interesting runner is the Kris Lees trained and Kody Nestor ride, Lonely Power ($2.40 favourite) in the fifth event a Class 2, 1400m.

Nestor trained the Star Witness gelding to win his first two starts before he quit training and only returned this season to race riding.

Tamworth will race on a soft 5 in fine conditions having missed the worst of the weather up north.
