At the last Goulburn race meeting Danny Williams cashed in on his home track for a winning double and the winners have continued to flow ever since.
A recent post on his twitter account captures the dream run of recent days: "The stable having a terrific run of late, 7 winners from our last 14 starters, 6 of those in last 10 starts."
The Goulburn-based horseman has notched a quartet of winners in the last seven days.
This included a double at the Wagga Cup Carnival (Leg Work and Shelby Sixty Six), another Highway handicap winner on the Kensington Track (Laughing or Crying) and another winner at the Sapphire Coast on Sunday (Biodynamic).
Williams saddles up four runners at his home track on Friday, Chix On Fire (Race 1, $11 on TAB), Post Free (Race 2, $14), My Blue Jeans (Race 3, N/A) and Talihina (Race 6, N/A) and any one of the four could add to the stable's impressive recent run.
Here's a race-by-race summary for punter's following Williams and the other acceptors on Friday's eight-race card at Goulburn.
Race 1 - SEMCO COUNTRY ONLY MAIDEN PLATE (1000M): Country-only in the opener over a short course trip with the Matthew Dale-trained Nuremberg Castle ($1.80 favourite) impressing on debut at Wagga. From a good draw can go one better. Look for Turfeze ($5) to run a cheeky race first-up on the speed for local trainer Scott Collings.
Race 2 - TAB ODDS & EVENS MAIDEN PLATE (1300M): Punters should be on the lookout for improving horses in a maiden with a number of merging form lines. Extra trip looks ideal for the Jason Coyle-trained Miss Keira ($3.30 fav) who steamed home at this track first-up. Lateral Missile ($6) comes out of the same race and could be on the improve now whilst Post Free ($14) has the hot Williams/Guymer combination in play.
Race 3 - JEWELL BUILDERS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1600): Genuine big track mile option for those accepted. Temperate is back in class with a tick in the track & trip boxes already on his CV. My Blue Jeans still a good fit horse on the quick back-up for the in-form Danny Williams stable.
Race 4 - TAB.COM.AU MAIDEN HANDICAP (1600M): Barriers stay put for this and Heimberg ($2.60 fav) from the consistent Pride Racing camp is looking hardest to get past after competitive showings in genuine provincial maidens of late. Mick An' Nicks ($3.20) also hoping for better fortune than latest provincial effort.
Race 5 - 2:35PM GOULBURN MARKETPLACE CLASS 2 HANDICAP (1400): A class two featuring some in-form types with good each-way value available to punters. Against The Tide ($5.50) continues to show a liking for the fresh tablelands air for the Price yard whilst Mercury ($8.50) has finished close-up in recent runs and is overdue to improve a plain strike rate. Bentley Magic ($2.90 fav) is the keep safe option expected to improve sharply.
Race 6 - 3:10PM DIVALLS EARTHMOVING CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1000M): Skittish tempo expected over a sprint trip. Interesting to see how much improvement Brazen Gem ($4.20 fav) can make this time in for the Baker stable. Went to the paddock after a maiden country win and two recent trials have been solid enough. Stablemate Courageous ($5.50) was well-supported last start at this venue in a tougher affair whilst Dozer Bay ($4.60) and Talihina ($7.50) show plenty of early promise.
Race 7 - GOULBURN CARPET COURT BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP (1000M): Another one turn then home affair. A battle of weapons expected between Catapault ($4.40) and Revolver ($8.50). Both gallopers delivered productive results last time out at this track whilst Sebring Express ($14) is much better than her last start failure and has a smart record at this trip. Tricky third leg of the quaddie.
Race 8 - BEST WESTERN PLUS GOULBURN BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1300M)
Smart Decision ($4.40) should be well fancied despite the lump of lead on board. Made sharp progress in her first campaign and finds the right type of race resuming. Other possible quaddie savers include Jonjo's Comet ($6.50), racing very honestly in similar grade of late and Homberg ($4.20 fav) who showed plenty of promise at his first campaign. Gets the right draw for a 1300m start.
Goulburn's track is currently rated a Good 4 with the first race timed to go at 12.15 on Friday.
