Vale Mr Ray Burt (Wagga)

Racing NSW has been informed of the passing yesterday of Mr Ray Burt following a long illness.

Ray, 79, was a part-owner of many good gallopers at Wagga including Man of Peace and April Rose.

Ray’s dad, Frank, trained three Wagga Cup winners and comes from a well-known family in the region.

“Ray was a great bloke and will be greatly missed,” said former trainer and good mate, Dave Heywood.

“I used to ride for Ray’s dad when I was 15-years-old and that’s how we became long time friends.”
