Vale Mr John Brien (Coonamble)

Racing NSW has been informed of the passing of Mr John Brien, 77, a former President of Coonamble Jockey Club.

Mr Brien's hometown of Coonamble can be very thankful to him for reinvigorating racing in Coonamble as President over two periods between 1987 to 1990 and later from 2002 to 2005.

John loved his racing and raced several thoroughbreds, and more recently had a share in Gidgee Guy which won six races.

John is survived by wife of 53 years, Judy, and was father and father-in-law to Natalie & Derek, Sophie and Jared.

He was also a cherished pardie to Oliver, Zara, Hugo and Felix, as well as a much-loved brother to Andrew and a treasured uncle. John was a friend and mentor to many.

Mr Brien’s Funeral Service will be on Friday, 31st March from 12:30pm at Macquarie Park Crematorium Camellia Chapel, cnr Delhi Rd &, Plassey Rd, Macquarie Park NSW.

There will also be a Celebration of John’s life at Coonamble Racecourse from midday on Wednesday, 5th April 2023. Attendees are asked to come with splash of colour.
