Participants travelling to Sapphire Coast for the race meeting to be conducted on Friday 26th March are advised that recent rain had resulted in a landslip on Brown Mountain and closure of the road.
The mountain is currently open but with the forecast of storms for Thursday afternoon, please monitor livetraffic.com and begavalley.nsw.gov.au for updates concerning the status of this road.
The Bega to Tathra Road at Jellat Flat is currently closed due to flooding and access from the north is via Merimbula only, which will add approximately 40 minutes of extra travel time to the journey.
As of 11am on Thursday (25th March) the track is rated a Heavy 9 but with the forecast for the chance of a thunderstorm this afternoon and evening, an inspection of the track will be conducted by Racing NSW Stewards at 6:30am on Friday.
Inquiries to Robert Tweedie (CEO of Sapphire Coast Turf Club) 0417 929 079.
[Update from Rob Tweedie at 3:50pm on Thursday]: "Intense storms have dropped significant rain on areas of the south coast this afternoon but Sapphire Coast Turf Club has received none of this rain. Storms are predicted to pass through in the next few hours with fine weather from 8pm onwards including Friday."
