Two Up Set To Repeat Dose At Port On Monday

By Rod Fuller

Following a dominant recent victory at the track under his belt, Two Up is poised to continue the strong form in the Carlton Dry Benchmark 66 Handicap at Port Macquarie on Monday.

The son of Dane Shadow accounted for Lord Avatar and Black Jacamar under Class 2 conditions just over a week ago and a strong record over the distance of the event provides plenty of confidence for a forward showing at his stiffest test to date.

It is significant that David Atkins has engaged the services of Chad Lever to pilot his Novocastrian-trained gelding with the prominent hoop already enjoying a strong record in the current state riding season with 42 victories and 84 placings.

It won’t be an easy assignment for Two Up as there are plenty of strong chances in the event headed by Glowing Red, Typhoon Bonny and Casino Fourteen with the trio possessing undeniable claims.

Kris Lees puts the polish on Glowing Red with the Artie Shiller mare responsible for an impressive success at the track two starts ago before being beaten just over two lengths by Bravado at Scone recently.

Typhoon Bonny has a strong record at her home track and will be greatly appreciative of the rain-affected ground anticipated while Casino Fourteen is resuming from a spell and has been allocated topweight after showing promise with wins at Lismore and Grafton when previously in work.

Black Jacamar found the extra distance of his recent assignment too much of a hurdle when beaten into third placing behind Two Up and the Kim Waugh-trained filly looks placed to advantage in the John Oxley Motors Benchmark 58 Handicap.

The daughter of Dream Ahead has posted two victories and a similar number of placings in her short career and is suited by the soft track conditions together with the shortened journey of Monday’s assignment.

Lookonchina is set to break his maiden status for the Sally Taylor stable in the opening event following recent placings at Grafton since resuming from a spell while keen form students believe Schoona the Better will be hard to beat in the following race after a solid recent victory at Moree.

The Port racing complex continues to be a COVID-19 safe venue and it is important to follow all the procedures and guidelines applicable with everyone encouraged to download the Services NSW app prior to attending to make entry easier.

General admission tickets are available on raceday and further details regarding tickets and seating arrangements in the Livermore Stand and Clydesdale Room are available by contacting the club on 02 6581 1964 or email on admin@portmacquarieraceclub.com.au

Port Macquarie Race Club can now accept your Dine & Discover Vouchers at the Bistro on raceday and have a fantastic $25 luncheon available.

If you have cold or flu like symptoms, such as a cough, fever, sore throat, shortness of breath or runny nose, even if these are mild, you will not be permitted to the course and you should get tested for COVID-19 as soon as possible. All people who have recently returned from Victoria over the last week will be unable to enter the track following the recent outbreak.

Races on the program carry the names of Schweppes, Stowe Australia, Barrier Signs, De Bortoli Wines, John Oxley Motors, Fastplast Building Supplies and Carlton Dry with the club delighted to continue their association with these fine brands.

The track is on the improve following constant rain activity and the promise of fine winter in the next couple of days should provide track conditions conducive to competitive racing. Punters will be able to follow all the action of the local program together with full coverage of supporting programs from around Australia through the screens of Sky Racing with comprehensive trackside wagering facilities available.
