Team Price supporters will be out in force again at Moruya, the scene of a career defining occasion, for a super raceday on Sunday where the stable has numbers and promising newcomers throughout eight capacity TAB races.

Long before the emergence of their best yet, Group-winning gallopers Jamaea and Count De Rupee, Robert Price trained four winners at Moruya ridden by the Jockey Club’s racing ambassador Winona Costin at the 2014 Christmas Cup meeting, as Rob formed a training partnership with his son Luke.

Success and training premierships have been ongoing at Moruya.

“That was a day for Dad, we’ve programmed Jamaea and Count De Rupee for Group races but we’ve got chances all day at Moruya, really nice types coming through - our best Rare Beauty, exceptional ability, bright future her,” enthused Luke from Kembla who rides her trackwork.

“We’ll put her away after this, let her develop, she’ll win a lot better races, but the wet tracks have held ours back.”

Rare Beauty, a two-year-old Headwater filly from a Sebring mare, is in the Hippie Stick Maiden, 1100m for Brock Ryan.

She’s only had the one start for third, a forgive on an Heavy 10 at Kembla Grange. Previously, Brock was hugely impressed riding her to win a Warwick Farm barrier trial.

"We’ve got others crying out for drier tracks, Young Heart (race 6) is well placed in this grade with the claim and fitter for racing.”

Luke was also positive about rising mare Kimbererly Rain in the fourth event: “The 1000m is a touch short, but she races well fresh, a mare we’ve always had an opinion of, she’ll be closing late.”

In the final event, Aphrodotti won a maiden on heavy at Moruya before failing in harder grade at Hawkesbury, an on-pacer well drawn.

However, with near a dozen starters there are other debut Price runners that have shown promise in barrier trials and warrant a market watch.

In capacity fields, the strong ACT stables of Dale, Dryden, Jones & Joseph, plus Moruya specialist Theresa Bateup from Kembla, invariably make their presence felt.

Moruya is rated a Soft 7 under partly cloudy skies, with minimal rain forecast on Sunday.
