The day belonged to the Stanley family when the members of three generations were in the winners' circle on Thursday at Narromine.
In the 1300m AGnVET Open Handicap, apprentice Dylan Stanley rode his career first winner on The Long Run trained at Wellington by his grandfather Peter W. Stanley.
Earlier, the Dubbo-based trainer Justin W. Stanley, the son of Peter W. Stanley, had won the 800m Vet Pet Medical Centre Maiden Plate with Nicka Narcells ridden by Clayton Gallagher.
Recovering from a fractured ankle and watching it all unfold was apprentice Ashleigh Stanley who had recently won the Cotton Cup at Warren on Not Negotiating trained by her father Peter W. Stanley.
Ashleigh Stanley, who was injured when her mount buck jumped on the way to the barriers at Cowra, is the regular rider for The Long Run and Not Negotiating and handed over the reins at Narromine to her nephew Dylan Stanley.
For his first winning ride, Dylan Stanley had his mount travelling well in second position and in an exciting finish The Long Run ($4.40 favourite) held off Good Time Charlie (Greg Ryan, $4.60) to win by a half-neck with the leader Exaggerate (Simon Miller, $9) a half-head away third.
Dylan Stanley is apprenticed to Dubbo trainer Kody Nestor along with Liam Blanch who won at Narromine on the Nestor trained Toulon Factor.
