Racing industry participants in the South East Racing Districts are invited to attend the next Racing Mates ‘Get-Together’, which will be held during the Moruya Jockey Club race meeting on Monday, 16th March from the NEW commencement time of 11:30am.
Racing Mates is a peer support initiative that was established by Racing NSW in 2016, empowering mates to look out for mates.
The peer support group has held several morning teas and workshops previously across New South Wales, and, the visit to Moruya follows a difficult period for the region following devastating bushfires that have taken place in recent times.
“We are looking forward to catching up with participants of the South East,” said Pat Webster, a Racing Mates ambassador. “This is a great opportunity for the local racing community of Moruya to come together for a chat, after what has been a very difficult time for the region.
“Support from peers and colleagues can make a big difference in coping with stress and difficult situations, and that’s what Racing Mates is all about.”
A lunchtime BBQ will be provided to Racing participants from 11:30am. The race meeting will also feature a “Racing Mates” race, with Webster to host the presentation.
“This is a great opportunity for the people of Moruya to come together and we look forward to catching up with all attendees,” Webster added.
Racing Mates has appointed several Ambassadors across NSW that are available as a port of call when industry participants are in need of a mate.
The Ambassadors possess a wealth of industry knowledge allowing them to relate to multifaceted concerns people may be experiencing. Industry-specific expertise combined with accredited training ensures Ambassadors can provide a crucial link between those in need and the required support.
The get-together will be held on Monday 16th March from 11:30am at Moruya Jockey Club, Donnelly Drive at North Head Moruya, NSW.
