Racing Mates hosted another successful BBQ ‘get-together’ for Hunter North West racing participants during the Gunnedah Cup meeting on Sunday 30th May.
Racing Mates Ambassador, Pat Webster was on hand at Gunnedah to host the latest Racing Mates event, with the objective of bringing participants together ‘for a chat’.
“As we have said before, sitting down for a chat can make all the difference in someone’s life,” Webster said.“Racing Mates is all about empowering ‘mates to look out for mates’, particularly in the country regions where some may feel their voice isn’t heard.”
Gunnedah Jockey Club supported the event by hosting the BBQ and sourcing volunteers to run the BBQ, including local racing identities, Roger Torrens and Graham Torrens.
“It was great having Pat Webster and his lovely wife Chrissy attend our race meeting to host the Racing Mates BBQ, and it was greatly appreciated by all the industry participants,” said Lyn Tongue, Gunnedah Jockey Club’s secretary/manager.
“The boys, Roger and Graham, jumped at the opportunity to cook for Racing Mates and thoroughly enjoyed the day with Pat and Chrissy. I was very grateful for their involvement on the day; it all went off well.”
Webster praised Gunnedah Jockey Club for their support of the event: “Lyn and the race club volunteers got right behind this event, for which we are very grateful,” Webster said.
