'Quick Picks' For Goulburn's Quick Back-Up

Goulburn backs up with an eight-race card on Friday after soldiering the Nowra Cup load last Sunday due to wet weather.  Currently a Heavy 8, there is still some improvement expected in the tablelands surface but punters should be looking for genuine, hard-fit gallopers on what looks an archetype winter track. Here are a few 'quick picks' to help find a winner or two.

Race 1 - HIBERNIAN HOTEL MAIDEN HCP (1500M): The consistent Chewie Two can cap off a strong week for the Freedman camp. Runner up at his past three with two of those at this venue. Todwick should be suited on the big track and a much kinder draw plays in his favour. Mr Resilient has run his best races to date at this track and form out of recent race looks reliable.

Race 2 - GOULBURN MULWAREE COUNCIL CG&E MAIDEN PLATE (1300M): A pay to watch the market type of race. Chateaux Park is looking for this trip third up whilst English import Recondite may need the run but has trialled twice. Two-year-old Toscanini the query runner.

Race 3 - BARLENS HIRE F&M MAIDEN PLATE (1300M): On speed type Indigenous heads to the country searching out a maiden win after showing talent last campaign. Big trial winner recently. Strong opposition from Enduring Night who is drawn wide but finds a suitable target first up after two close up city class runs last prep.

Race 4 - DAVID ALT ELECTRICAL CLASS 3 HANDICAP (1000): Sharp type of trip and Chap's Dream has smoked them at her past two. Tougher test here but has genuine wet track results to her credit and rarely out of the money. Invincible Lad is back in grade and proven at this trip. Has been placed on a heavy track. Local Fat Gecko is on a fast track to progress after just four starts and likes it wet.

Race 5 - GOULBURN PRODUCE 2YO MAIDEN HANDICAP (1000M): Tricky opener to the quaddie with little exposed experience. Navalha comes out of a hot looking recent trial but cops the visitors draw whilst Kaufusi has looked street smart in two trials and is set for a strong debut showing. Heat's debut run should also stack up well here.

Race 6 - SUN SOLUTIONS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1200M): Direct Default doesn't win out of turn but definitely want to be with him each way today. Right horse in the right race. Damagic is ideally drawn and holding his form nicely in similar races. Gets conditions to suit. Invincible Rock strips much fitter and has a strong record at this trip.

Race 7 - SWIFTWOOD TILES & BATHROOMS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1400M): Who's Shout returned to form last start and could be the 'out of isolation' catch phrase horse! Proven at this trip and third up has lots to offer. Chariman's Choice is in peak form and a proven weight carrier. Lots to like with him whilst Colesberg has switched stables and been freshened for this. Finds a favoured surface for the first time in a long time.

Race 8 - PURPLE HEART DEFIBRILATORS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1600M): Should be a real slogging mile late in the day and Austreet should be well found in betting. In career best form and was a heavy track winner two starts back. Blue Tattoo was placed in a handy form reference at this venue last time but is on trial at the mile. Isadora Twinkle could easily bob up for the locals. Nicely weighted on a track that should suit. Bacinblac way up in weight but a big market watch.

Goulburn's track is currently rated a Heavy 8 with the first race timed to go at 11.55am on Friday.
