Lauri Parker heads to Goulburn on Tuesday with just the one runner but plenty of confidence after a strong past month of results.
The Warwick Farm-based Parker is a regular visitor to Goulburn and saddles up Point Out ($3.50 on TAB) in Race 4, the JCF Earthmoving Class One Handicap over 1500m.
Parker has secured three winners from her last 10 runners with recent ventures to Wagga , Moruya and Kembla Grange all proving successful missions.
Point Out kick started Parker’s recent trio of winners and her trainer feels like there’s enough in his favour at Goulburn to feed further fundraising.
“He’s continued to thrive! Licking his feed bowl clean and bouncing around the track, “ Parker reported.
Parker also indicated that a heavy track allays any fears of a fruitless trip up the Hume.
“He relishes the wet ground which is a reason he is running again. Because he is going so well we thought we would take advantage of the wet tracks,“ Parker said.
Parker also thinks he’s entitled to a crack at a longer trip: “Last start he raced like he needed a mile so looking forward to seeing him over 1500m tomorrow.
“From a good barrier and up in distance he will roll along in front, but he is very versatile and can take a sit if need be.”
Parker has Louise Day doing the steering on Point Out. The hard working hoop’s recent results mirror that of the stable with Day firing in three winners from her last 11 rides.
Parker also said that no matter Tuesday’s result Point Out will then get a well earned break: “He will be off to the paddock after tomorrow’s race either way.”
Parker currently has 14 horses on the books, the former jockey renowned for her hands-on approach.
